Hi guys would just like to say , got the pheonix sim and been on it for about 6 hrs in total now and my flying on it has come on leaps and bounds ... but and there is always a but , was out today with the Knight and was so chicken i was Pi,,ed off when I came home , same old flying around figure of 8s and the usual circuits but no flips , rolls , loops, etc...

    Doin my head in .

Question .. Is it cos I dont have confidence in the heli yet , I feel it has nothing like the response in pitch on the sim. Feels realy spongy if thats the right word on the pitch and the power is not the same as the sim . I know I have a cr,,y thunder tiger 50 pro but it should still knock a punch surely.. Any replies and reasons most appretiated totaly .

Ps ; wish I could fly like I do on the sim

Not sure of the answer. But, I would put some of the confidence thing down to money if you 'drop' it !!!!

For me, the answer was having confidence that the pitch and throttle curves were set up correctly in IU1/2, and then just getting out there, hit the switch and go for it! Untidy as hell, but it got round and I quickly learned the difference in roll/loop rate to the sim. If I cared a bit more, I'd adjust the model in the sim...

Whilst the sim is very good, there is no way it can feel like the real thing. It's natural to find it hard to do new manouvres for real even if you have them nailed in the sim.

However a couple of points re the collective response:

1 What headspeed are you running? (Should be over 1850, preferably 2000 for "sim like" response)
2 What nitro content is your fuel? (should be 20%+)
3 Are you sure the lack of power isn't to do with the TT pro you have? (remember my bluntness....)
4 Have you got the full 11+/11- pitch curve setup?

Thanks Richie ill have a good look at all these issues once kids are tucked up , just back to life now well rough today after a dozen or so pints last night cant drink beer to save my sell..
Reve loc 10 Ill double check it but the engine is trying to hold in the revs but it was inconsistant might need a bit of tuning up . Fitted a header tank to it to try and illiminate the poor running issue ( leaning out all the way down the tank ) running 20% magnum in it and last check on pitch was 10 deg each way but ill double check in a while.Hand s down tt50 pro is crap dont dout your advice and a hiper would be major improvement . Will transfer the pro into rappy when I can afford a hiper.
          Cheers

One peice of advice I can give to anyone wanting to move their flying forward is to stand on the flightline with a better pilot.

Look at the way the heli feels close up to them. Somehow it all looks more achievable when you are stood next to someone doing it. Get them to do the manouvre you want to do and watch how they fly it.

I do this all the time and nick everyones moves

as has been said, its just a mental hurdle to overcome. you need to do a move for the first time to get over the mind set of not knowing whats going to happen. Do everything new with a bit of extra heoght - it gives you more time to recover if it goes wrong.

I personally found the TT engine to be quite good - obviously not as powerful as the OS equivalents, but reliable and certainly powerful enough for what i was doing at the time! Sound slike you just need to tune it better and find its sweet spot.

Okay got my pitch curves set up and they were well out , normal mode i have -5 , +10 and idle up -10 , +10 which is much more punchier . Can a revloc cause your glow plugs to pop cos Ive had 2 do it tonight , one of which was brand new , magnum is smoking like a coal chimney and main needle is at 2 and a half turns. Pro tt 50 is brand new and running os no.8 plug . Only thing that I have changed is the header tank new and rev lok 10 fitted.Engine isnt overly hot and cant be bearings breaking down. Any ideas dudes.
