Anyone had a go at making one of these transmitter packs?

I've got the cells, I guess I need to find the heatshrink any ideas what is being used at the ends for the connections?

I was looking at these for a tx packs in my 8FG, no idea how to join them reliably though!

most packs are joined by metal strips soldered on. it keeps the batterys from moving .....mick

it's easy enuff to do. Need a decent soldering iron tho so you can solder the lins quickly otherwise you can fubar the cells by taking too long and putting too much heat into them.

You can use short lengths of cable between the cells and just loop/fold it round into the pack, or some thin brass strip that will fold when you close the cells together. Hot glue is great for holding it all solid once done then just add the heatshrink afterwards to finish.

Just remember to file up the ends of the individual cells before trying to solder to em 'else it won't stick, kinda like glossing woodwork. Get rid of the shine.

whats the advantage of this pack over say a lipo tx pack?

These have the same voltage as stock and not lipo voltage which is too high to work reliably with the standard voltage regulator.

Ahh, I could never trust anything like this, specially if I done it..

There are some fascinating vids on YouTube of the DIY spot welding rigs some people have made for tacking the tags onto batteries.
Hell of a lot of potch but it must be satisfying to see it working, IF yours works that is.
I went for LiFePo4 too, much simpler solution.

Tried making up some packs a good few years back. I purchased a solder tip that looks like a hammerhead so you could heat up both ends of the battery togeather. Difficult to explain but I will see if I can get a picture.
