  • Rudder/throttle contol

hey guys me again, sorry i have lots of questions, but with flying every day i keep coming up against things. Im now getting the hang of hovering tail in and am now hovering at different points and different angles to myself and the wind, however i feel that i wont be able to trust the rudder when i start doing normal flying around at distance, because its very hard not to alter the throttle when you alter the rudder. Is this something that dissapears with practice or is there a certain way to hold the rudder stick?
    Cheers Paddy

    Hi Paddy
If your naturally right handed like most of us then the left hand has so far in your life been a dormant organ.
It's about to change - It will come with practise - one tip a lot of us use is to hold the stick with finger and thumb like a pen, this will give you the precise control you need.
There is no need to fly at distance yet - if you can hover on both sides then your ready for lazy 8's which will give your left hand plenty of practise.

If it's not fun, your not doing it right !!

      Hi Paddy,

G-Dave is right about learing to use your left hand in a more precise maner than it has been previously used to

One thing I would add though is some transmitters have adjustments on the stick tensions in either axis, I found that by tightening it up so it needed more force to move the stick up and down, i.e. pitch and then slowly reducing it back to a more normal feel as I got used to it.

The transmitter I used to do this was a Futaba 9CHP, you might find yours has a similar adjustment.

      Cheers,

      Pete.
