Don't let over-confidence fool you into trying stuff you wouldn't otherwise be comfortable with...make sure it goes home in one piece and you won't regret it

    Best of luck, looking great.

                    Well...

                    Maiden didn't go to plan.

Flew the TT360 first just to get my fingers working. Then on to the 600.

Range check, all good. Started to spool up, all looking good. Then a bit more, Heli spins round like mad, hit TH after it had spun 180 deg. Stripped 3 or 4 teeth off the front TT umbrella gear

After looking through my settings I suddenly realised what was wrong. I was in Rate mode on the gyro not HH mode. Lesson learned, always set up your switches in the same way on each heli... I have two HH modes on the TT360, one with higher gain, and a rate mode which I use to centre the servo before spooling up. On the 600 setup I only had one HH mode, and I'd used the wrong position.

Will now have to order some more gears, so maiden attempt number two will have to be next week

Doh. Pete we've all been there. I feel pretty bad as I was going to state this as a pre-check. I always check they gyro settings by checking the tail blades move correctly for a left right input and also that the gyro is doing its job by pushing the tail away and pulling it back towards you and seeing if the slider moves in the correct direction.

Oh I did all that mate. I have a pre-flight routine, and I ran through that as always. Check all switches to the back, TX on, hold on. Connect lipo, put heli in take off position. Gyro gain switch to last setting ( Rate to centre the servo ) then back to flight position. Problem is the flight position is centre on the TT360 at the minute.

If only I'd set the two modes to HH mode like the TT360 setup

I'll be altering that so they're the same before the next try.

When I maidend my 500 with 3g unit, first attempt it fell over on its side, the second time (after £45 of repairs) it spun round. Both were my own fault!! I thought I had checked it all out, but I hadn't BOTH times!!!

I now check it out before each flight in case I have somehow adjusted things!!
                          Cheers n beers

Yeah it could be worse. The main annoyance being I don't have any spares so have to order some. Oh and the fact that my flying was better than ever today, that 600 would have been spot on and I bet I'd have not flown the TT360 again today otherwise.
