  • Castle Cremations POLL

    Hi

I have had so many CC products fail, and now this eve a brand new CC160HV cut out 4 minutes into the first full flight on my VIBE SG E12 and so I auto'd in. As I was walking up to the heli the esc burst into flames BIG STYLE!

This is the second ESC on this heli. The last one was just a couple of weeks ago when James Moon was fitting a new CC 160 HV to the heli, it burnt out on the bench even before flying it!

I have another 110 HV CC esc in my tool box burnt out (after being replaced after the last burn out), and also have lost count of the number of failed CC esc's that I have returned for refund.

I also have been through a few CC BEC Pro's.

Why have I continued to buy CC products? Well I stopped quite a while ago. However I was struggling to track down an interaction issue on my VIBE with the Kontronik esc so I thought that the new 160HV would be ok. You know - give them a chance again!

I do still use the BEC Pro V2, but ONLY on 6S. They seem to fail at 12s but so far at 6s they have been good.

I thought I would start a poll to see how many failures YOU have had....

I've had the Ice 100 for over a year and it's fine, Maybe it's only the HV's having a problem??

I agree Matt, think the Question needs to be the failiure rate on the HV controllers

Paul, it's quite clear it's the HV products from CC that have the issue.

My BEC pro failed on 12s, lv range seems very good.

How many don't send their failed, burnt etc units back??

                  Hi Ben

You know that protos of mine that you have now? It has a Kontronik esc on it because the LV CC esc went up in smoke and flames......

So the LV range may be a LOT more reliable, but they still have issues....... you know Kieth? well his CC LV esc on his 600 went last weekend....now he is running an align esc....

There are MANY more people I could name that have had failures....but we will see if they come on and vote.....

                    I didn't know that no.

I forgot about keiths esc the other weekend but i still think the lv range has a lot fewer failures and I would think the lv range outsells the HV range?

Oh, I bet you won't buy another CC HV esc????

Even that is far too high I feel. (I mean what it should be)

It would be nice to have a competitor to Kontronik as otherwise their prices will just keep rising.

Same as Asid, been reading lots of good reports about the new range of YGE controllers. Cheaper than Kontronik, and designed apparently by ex Kontronik staff. I have heard the Govenor is the best ever.

I have CC products and i don't have any issues!! (He says with bated breath)

I wonder out of the reported failures how many are actually down to the product itself and how many are down to the Numpty factor?? I've seen guys with Trex700's running an ICE 80 ESC and general common sense tells me that this is not big enough!!

I've had issues with Kontronik!!, it was a 120 ESC that went up on the deck and not only cremated itself but the machine it was attached to and destroyed it!! Total Loss!!

Just giving my 2 Pennies worth as some guess seem hell bent on attacking CC!!

I will give them credit though!! they have been covering these ESC's under warranty!! i would hazard a guess that the actual failure rate is very low and the numpty factor has come into play and some of these 'Failed' ESC's have been down to Numpties blowing them up!
                            Happy Flying! Thanks - Dave

Just for the record. I have had a few castle products in the past and as of yet not had a problem.

Just recently I sold a friends Trex 700e with a castle controller 120 Ice on it as well and that worked well with no issues.

Maybe it's just a few isolated cases!

PS...Don't flame me, I'm just putting in my experiences :-)
                              Cheers Matt
