  • Scorpion too powerful?

    I'm building a 450 size 'bitza'. My li-po's are mostly 2200mA, 25C. My ESC is a ice50 lite.

I mistakenly ordered a Scorpion HK-2221-8. Meant to order the -6. Now I can't find a -6 in the UK.

I believe the -8 is too powerful and I'm concerned that I'll puff my batteries in no time.

Returning the -8 is an option.
I'm going with an 11t pinion, aiming for top speed cica 3,200rpm.

    Anybody got some advise?

I have the -8 in my beam and it's great. The -6 kills batts as it's more powerful

Yeah I confirm you have it the wrong wayround and the -6 is the insane motor and the -8 is the one you want.
Yuo wont go wrong with the -8 motor.

I just looked at the motor descriptions, and it seems the -6 is the "hotter" motor, higher Kv and fewer turns (6 instead of 8, as the name implies).

The "6" V2 version is the best motor I have ever tried on 3s in a 450. The "8", don't know, but it should work out fine with an 11 or 12 tooth pinion and a flat 100 throttle curve.

As long as you choose the pinion small enough, a motor doesn't puff your LiPos unless it's too small and draws overcurrent from magnetic saturation.
Of course, it's up to you, how hard you make it work.

BTW my LiPos puff like there's no tomorrow. I keep them strapped in tight, so what...

Here is my "6" version. It's nowhere near "too powerful" such a thing does not exist...

oh no not another ' my bad '

yeah the '6' is the nutter motor. The '8' is just the job - top motor for 450 heli.
