  • Problem starting OS91C spec with pump

only using standard starter, it has so much compression it will not turn it over. Anyone got any advise. :?

Chappers has a bump version, I have a std version.

You need a high torque starter with a good battery with high amp's.

take out the plug and turnover the engine to clear any fuel residue. refit the plug but only losely, don't prime it. Turn over the engine and while turning over, then release the fuel clamp. Once started tighten the plug in fully.

Try and keep the starter motor runing for short bursts to ensure you don't burn it out.....I'm on my third and hopefully final starter 8O.

Hope this helps, Chappers may have some extra tips for the PS version.
    Cheers

Oh yes, if you don't fancy logging around a car battery get a Yusa 12v 24amp battery that's so far its worked a treat for me. I did have two 7.2v cellpacks, but they don't last very long. My engines over a year old now and its still very tight on the compression so its not going to get better very soon. What I will say is that once started you'll generally find that starting after this is better.

You can always add a shim to the head - this will assist the starting.
I use a 14 Amphr motorcycle lead acid battery - used on 250 cc bikes.
it's not that heavy and sits easily in a model box.
You will as Stu says need a good starter Theres really only one a Sullivan Hi Torque.
Have a clamp on your fuel lines as soon as you land or refuel close them off untill your ready to start up.

If it's not fun, your not doing it right !!
