  • hobbywing pentium HV 100A, any good?!?!

i been flying nitro for some time now and i just get bored with the mess of fuel and the price of fuel going up, and i was going to convert to FBL to make it faster and less of a drag on the engine but thought it could be cheaper to convert to electric, and found this speedo but dont know if its anygood :/

    thoughts?

    cheers

Had one catch fire on the bench so I don't use them now, when it did work it seemed fine. Think compass use them.

Been using the 120 version in my fusion with no issues so far,the soft starts are nowhere near as soft as the aligns but being careful sorts it out

I had a HW Pentium on my atom. It had very poor soft start and it cut out on me in flight. However this is the older model. The recent model is the platinum which is reported to be reliable and offers good performance. Furthermore it is supposed to work very well with a v bar gov. The soft start is also much improved with the latest software updates.

You mention you are going flybarless. Lots of Flb units now are coming out with software governors, Vbar, Skookum Sk720 to name a couple of top units. The beauty of a flb unit controlled governor is that it can reduce collective (at least the sk720 can) if necessary to prevent bogging. Something an esc's governor can never do.
Thing is some esc's are not compatible with a fbl gov, Kontroniks and some Castles to name a few.
Check out 'mrmels' list of compatible esc's for Vbar (same as with sk) here
VBar 5.1 Governor - my list of ESC's - HeliFreak

I notice that the hobbywing 'Platinum' is on the list.

You may not need this gov now but it will develop into a 'needed' part of any fbl unit.
