Advice please- use of 3GX, TotalG, VBar and BeastX as Rx

Hi all.

I'm about to start a new build and have bought an Align 3GX to try.

I want to use it as a Rx with 2 satellites, but have heard anecdotes that it is better to use a dedicated receiver on larger helis rather than allowing the FBL controller to do everything. I love the idea of a very tidy install with minimal wiring.

Has anyone got any fact based reasons one way or the other, or shall I just go for it and try.

you'll have no failsafe on throttle with the 3gx unless you use a main rx, Align apparantly have an update in the pipeline for the uk market but no news on release yet. I fitted a main rx to mine simply because of bmfa guidelines for comps and public demo's etc and the thought of watching my heli fly off following a signal loss. Mikado and others released the update after releasing the product too, as the rest of the world are not required to have failsafe I believe.

I am using SBus/VBar on my 700 and 600 with no problems, creates a very neat install. I was led to believe that the 3GX has forgot a throttle fail safe, or people are having problems getting it to work, if this is the case it would be cause for me to run a RX.

No problems using dual satellites large helis,i run the V Bar and 3GX with no issues.

3GX firmware update 1.1 is out in a week or two and among other improvements it sorts the failsafe according to Pm i had from them.

I use 2 sats with all my helis with a vbar and I fly high and farrrrrr and have no issues
