  • Setting flybar

just wondering if you could help me, im just rebuilding my heli, nearly finished but need to know how to set the flybar in the right place and then how to balance it?
Im a beginner, would it be better for me to have it longer or shorter? whats the difference?
    Regards

    Hi Paddy,

Some flybars come with flats for the set screws to locate against, in which case all you need to do is make sure that they are in the right place for the flybar control arms. The ones that dont have the flats you will need a ruler for, what you need to do is measure the length of the flybar sticking out both sides of the head and make sure it is exactly equal before you tighten it up.

Once the flybar is in its a case of putting the paddles on and making sure they are absolutely flat when the control arms are straight and symetrical, in the case of the sceadu which has the big control arm, the rods that connect the two ends either side of the head need to be parallel and level.

The only other thing to check is that there is no slop in the movement of the swash plate on the main shaft below and make sure that the head follows the movement without feeling loose in any way.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

      Fly Bar

Raptorite seems to have the fly bar fitting covered as for the balancing all I ever do is weigh the paddles to get them the same, and as you screw them on make sure there equadistant from the hub.
