I have an MCPX and a T-rex 250 and since owning both the mcpx has had 30 -40 flights and the 250's been in the air a handful of times, The mcpx is fun to fly will teach you a lot without costing the earth to repair, Mine hits the deck regularly and has cost me a grand total of £20 to keep it flying, I absolutely love the little thing

I had this same question recently and went for the 250 as its more capable of a small heli.

Depends what you want to learn tho I suppose

Had a Trex 250 and yeah they are very capable little helis Trouble is I found the drawbacks outweighed the good points so got rid and bought a 500 instead

            To me, the downsides were,
            >They are really fiddly/awkward to work on.

            >The feathering shafts snap at the slightest ding causing the loss of the grip bearings.

            >Was for ever breaking/loosing the pitch links.

            >You need a top notch gyro and tail servo to get the tail to behave.

            >Their speed an agility combined with their small size means before you know it , its turned into a little dot in the sky.

            >Not good on slightly more windy days.

            >Their twitchy little buggers, so not good for learning on.

Other than that, their great little helis, and fully 3D capable

But if I was going to buy another small heli, I would probably plump for the mCP X, just because they bounce a few times before having to spend anything out on repairs, and reckon your likely to get more fun per £ spent in the long run.

I've been messing around practising new stuff in the garden today. Maybe run 20 batteries through the MCPX. Every flight ended in a crash as I was pushing to my absolute limit - no damage done.
I had a 250 a couple of years back - hateful thing, the slightest crash was a stripdown - fiddly little screws, heads stripping, horrible thing - I too sold mine and bought a 500. The last heli I sold was the 500, the newest I bought was an MCPX !

Found the MCPx to be a mess, and a big disappointment after the MSR. The way in which it does aeros is nothing like on a proper bird so I'd say the trex 250 all day long. It's a beast to tame for garden flying but is possible.

People who crash the MCPx and it doesnt break are having a different experience to me, I've found the the links from the blade grips to the swash break every crash.

                  Velocity 50 (OS 55)
Trex 600LE (OS 50, quick uk bits)
                  Trex 500 (DS520s all around, fl760)
                  Trex 450 (hs65mgs, ds420 tail, gy401)
                  Trex 250 (stock)

250 is much better and more capable helicopter, handful in the wind (still can be flown, just requires a lot of attention). Mcpx is fun toy, which is good to have around, but tail performance is not there.

Well you must be in the minority then.

No-one is saying the MCPX flies like say a 600. A 250 doesn't either, and neither does Phoenix.

To me the MCPX is the link between Phoenix and say a 600

Then a MCP-X will defo suit you better in this instance.

As you can crash it and go again, crash the 250 then you got a rebuild on your hands.

                          MCPx all the way,crash,pick up,fly,crash,pick up,fly etc.etc.
Wish they were around when i was learning to hover, would have saved a ton of money in spares and repair time.

mcpx, but get a programable transmitter (dx6i or similar), then you can dial down the settings to soften it up for learning, then ramp it up when you get good at it. there's 2 rate settings on the ready to fly model (dx4e), but even on the low setting it flies like a wasp on steroids.

you've then got a decent transmitter for when you get a bigger heli

I asked the same question recently with pretty much the same thread title lol, I would say, having flown the mcpx nearly every night forth last 2 weeks, that the mcpx is a great heli I have crashed it and crashed it some more, the most I have done is loose a few links that's it, my blades have been in bushes, hit the house, hit metal posts from the trampoline, it's great
