Lipos held a customs

Is anyone else currently waiting for Lipo's from HK. Mine have been showing "held in customs at destination" since the 23rd June. Not had any letter through asking for Vat payment etc.

It's not unusual for customs to take 5-10 days to get around to it..

This is why I hate importing stuff over here.

If I order from say Japan for delivery to my USA address then the goods can leave Tokyo on a Thursday and arrive at my door on the Saturday.

Can't even get them through customs over here in that time ...

If you give Parcelfarce a ring you probably can speed up the process, most likely they have it..

It's more than likely parcel force taking an eternity to send you details as usual. Can be a week before they bother to send you a card.
They are pretty useless, why should we have to chase someone to do their job after we have already paid for it to be delivered promptly.

A while back you could, but nowadays you can't. Until you get the letter from customs with the reference number there is nothing you can do. I tried ringing 4 weeks ago, so should know

Wow, how many Lipo's did you order? I only had 2 plus a few extra bits, took 3 days before it was released. Went straight to the local Parcelforce depot to collect. Seems like nothing from HK arrives without incurring customs charges these days. Probably won't order from Hong Kong again.

There are two charges. Apparently you pay the higher charge "for express processing and 24 hour delivery" I was told by them - more like you pay extra by no choice, wait weeks until they send you a letter, letter gets lost in the post, get another letter sent out after contacting them, then as you've been waiting weeks for your package you would rather go and pick it up as they do not deliver Saturday without charging extra. You get to their pick-up point after phoning their premium phone number (which also likes to cut you off and make you wait upwards of 30 mins) to confirm and then there's no one there when you get there, so you try to make contact with someone and finally you get told that you have to pay in cash because their card service isn't working. After forking out for their apparent express delivery service when you used your own fuel and time you now have your parcel.

Then just hope you're package hasn't been damaged..

A week in customs isn't unusual. Don't forget they don't work weekends!

What I do is track it on the ParcelFarce website and when it hits the local depot you're clear to go and collect or phone up and pay the customs bill. This can gain you 2-3 days over than waiting for the local depot to post the bill out.

If you ordered stuff from Hobby King and they haven't disclosed the correct value, which is quite normal if you missed that part during ordering, of the items then a Customs Official may look at the item description against cost and see that the declared value is unrealistic. So now he might start to investigate and find out how much the items really cost in order to send you a bill for the correct VAT amount.

To add my 10p worth .....i have only ever had parts stopped by custom when they are heavy like batteries, so now i buy batteries from the German warehouse, although availability is limited and price is a little higher , but no hassle... simple choice really.

I had this scenario last week. While its in customs parcelfarce have no control on the package. Its actually sitting with the UK Border Agency in Coventry, Parcelfarce's is only contact at this stage may of been to ship it from Gatwick to coventry.

My package arrived into the uk on the Tuesday - it diddn't clear until the Monday, numerous phonecalls to parcelfarce later as disgrunteled as i could of been resulted in waisted breath - at the end of the day its customs who then need to hand it over.

The only advice i can give is watch for it to get handed over as Parcelfarce will then that night ship it to your local hub - your hub will then post you out a card using snail mail and then you need to ring - avoid all that by watching it and then going to collect it the next day instead. You'll still have to pay - and take cash.

I would have if they were in stock. The last lipos I bought from Germany came via DPD courrier, extremely efficient and could be tracked through the whole journey.

Looks like I will have to be a bit more patient.
