  • WHO SAID HELLI'S ARE DANGEROUS

    Hi Guys.
Went over to my field today for a fly and nearly got more than I bargained for. There was a couple of fixed wing boys at the field so ventured to the main patch instead of to my own little bit of grass for my fly,the two fixed fliers one of whom was a learner were attempting to hand launch a very pretty Mechersmitt (sorry about the spelling)and as the learner was making such a hash of attempting the launch having twice thrown it straight into a stall, I offered to do this for them.Full of confidence I took a few quick steps and threw it with all my might,I never saw the result as I slipped on some sheeps s**t and I swear I turned two somersaults in the air.Happily when I recovered and started to clean off the mess, and the learner chap had recovered from a laughing fit,I noticed the model was doing what it was meant to, and very well at that in capable hands.
I then had my fly with no problems and again went to watch a super 60 that the learner was attempting to land, his first attempt would have took my head off if I had not ducked, the second one nearly went straight into my poor old moskito which was parked out of the way, it was only avoided by my shout and the quick intervention of the tutor with the buddy box.And the third one ended on a sheeps back.I have had to endure any amount of how dangerous my helli is, but after today I am going to keep my eyes to the sky for uncontrolled planks. At least I really enjoyed my days outing for it has given me something to talk about and it was FUN.

    GOOD FLYING.
    MO.

Sounds like you've had a very exciting day by all accounts. You made the effort to help a fellow flyer regardless of thier preferred method of flight that say's alot within this hobby.
    Cheers

      Hi Mo,

It sounds like you have come up with a new way to hand launch a plank, I think it may be a little too energetic for some though

Glad you had a good days flying and even managed to take the mossie home in one piece despite the best efforts of that plank learner

      Cheers,

      Pete.

        Who Said Heli's Are Dangerous

The only injury I have ever received in 30years of R/C flying was when a propeller on a running four stroke decided to part company from the motor and screwed it's way across the pits and cut open my hand to the bone.
Heli's are much less of a worry.

If it's not fun, your not doing it right !!
