  • bind problem 450 sport

I have a binding prob with my 450 sport which has a spektrum ar6100e rx and a dx6i, im finding its being a bit tempremental and can loose signal/bind at any time (obviously not good) ive tried wiggling all wires going to all places in hope to find a loose connection but i havnt, however ive noticed that the esc is getting pretty hot, inc the capacitors and the two leads that go to the batt even though its just sitting on the bench with battery connected doing nothing, is this normal? if not could this be the possible cause of the bind issue? ive now removed the two hook n loop tapes holding it to the frame so that its just hanging down and it dosnt seem to be getting quite as hot as it was getting but still warm, any thoughts on this one guys?

I'm running a similar setup and nothing gets hot when plugged in on the bench so I don't think it sounds right. Do you have a multimeter to test the voltage coming from the esc's bec wire? The heat and losing bind could both be symptoms of the same issue. You could try unplugging all the servos and see if it still heats up & looses bind, if so you might have a failing servo.

I had same problem on 250 where servo jammed which over loaded the Bec on the esc
Though servo still worked it was drawing to much power ended up changing servo and esc.

      Get your servos tested.

As said a faulty ESC will cause this problem as will a faulty servo.

        Two checks you can do,
        (1) remove the servo wires from thr RX and then power up and see what happens.
        (2) remove the ESC power wire from the RX and power it using a 4.8volt RX pack. If this works ok you'll know it was an ESC fault.

ok ive removed tail servo from rx and esc is not getting warm at all now, so im assuming that the servo is knackered?

Do you mean gyro from the rx or did you have the tail servo plugged into the rx for testing?

The tail servo should be plugged into the gyro, then the gyro into the rx? Are you just installing the electronics on a new build?

Loz, I just re read your post do you mean you pulled the gyro cable from the tail port on the rx and left the gyro gain lead in?

It could be the gyro or the tail servo, I think you could plug the tail servo directly into the rudder port on the rx to test & see if it is causing the issue. I have never done this so mabie one of the more experienced guys could confirm please? What the back ground to the problem, has the heli been flying ok or had a crash etc?

It will be fine to plug the tail servo directly into the rx, just don't try and fly it like that lol
