Thanks Andy for taking the time and the effort to research and write this up for our benifit. Ignore Chris, some people can't read something and appreciate that you've put a lot of effort into it.
If you're interested in the "power saga" of the Spektrum in the UK here is a thread from "the other place" which features quite a bit of my old mans look at the Spektrum and the Futaba offerings... upshot is there is no difference in power... http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t359018p1/
oh yeah one other thing i forgot to mention was the new futaba 2.4ghz system is still narrow band like the old 35mhz system when compared to spektrums broad band system. futaba is like holding two pencils in front of you and moving them compared to skeptrums two dinner plates.
at great distances the dinner plates will be easier to see, even with big chunks taken out the dinner plates you'll still them moving.
after using the spektrum system for the last week, i can only say "wow".
the only negative thing i can think of to say is that without the long tx aerial the radio is unbalanced when hanging from the hooky thing in the middle of the radio. as i dont need a neck strap to hold the radio it wasnt a problem. however looking at spektrums website lastnight they have thought of this and an adaptor is available. this just bolts on to the hooky thing in the middle of the tx. restoring balance.

i tried copying the link but it only took you to the welcome page.
i will miss the eas of the my jr 10x, the nice touch screen, switches in the right place as trevor would say. come on spektrum bring out a 10x version please.
Yeah, I love that 10x, the way you have to scroll across 500 pages of menus just because you can't remember what number travel adjust was, and also them wonderful functions that no one can even find a use for except the designers. Also the fact that it is so light that it only stretches your neckstrap by 3 inches everytime you use it and the way that you have to switch to a different radio if you want to buddy someone on it. Awesome radio ...
typical Trev reply, if he ain't using it then it is crap.
jr9xII was crap now he is using one,
electric helis were crap now he wont go back to nitro.
radix blades were crap now he wont use anything else.
the list could go on and on. trev maybe a good pilot but he has got a lot of growing up to do in my opinion
hehe, jr9xII is still poo imo, I never purchased one, it was lent to me so that I could fly as my ff9 was broke...ff9 = flexible but low quality, jr9 = constrictive and missing actual useable features but high quality.
electric helis were indeed crap when I had the Concept EP 600...Things have moved on since then.
agree with ash, the 9xII is awesome radio in the 9 channel class.
some switches are in different (notice i didnt use the word "wrong") places but the disadvantages are small when compared to the functions available and build quality.
the 9xII wasnt available when i got my 10x but the 10x is still going strong after 7 years
