  • Align LiPo balancer problem...?

    Hi guys

Got myself a 6 cell capable Align charger and matching balancer. I charged my 7.4V BEC LiPo fine on my T-Rex 600 (no balancer needed) but when I try and charge my 22.2V LiPo flight packs through the balancer, I get the error message 'Batt Circuitry Disconnection".

Checked the 4mm banana plug connections on the balancer, they seem fine. My soldering of the Deans connectors on the flying lead from the Balancer is fine. The 75A fuse is fine too. All I can think is there's a fault in the balancer. Any other thoughts?

Means I can't test-fly my new 600 this weekend. D'oh!! Can't even drive up North and get it swapped as Fast Lad are closed Sundays. Double D'oh!

    Cheers - Rob

Either that or the balancer leads in the Lipo could be faulty

I regularly charge straight thru the main leads without balancing with a Chamaleon charger and balance charge with the Balancepro now and again

      Hi Chris

I guess I could make up a straight charge lead.

The balancer leads seem fine, as I can balance a pack 'off line' no problems.

This problem occurs with both my LiPo packs, so I'm guessing it has to be a faulty balancer unit.

Just typical I find it's dead now, right when I want to test-fly

      Cheers - Rob

i aint got a align balancer either, so i have to charge via main leads. i do this at half C cos at 22.2 volts my Chamaleon charger pulls my car battery to low.
you can sorta balance the pack by charging at a very low current ie over night. after a days flying

mike at aurorra sells the pig tail for the Balancepro hd (revolution batteries are best ive found) but you'll need a heavy duty soldering iron.

        sorry its a bit late.

thinking about the problem, are you pulling you power supply to low? that'll give an error reading.

came to think about my balancepro hd gives an error when charging at more than 2.5 amps

I found the problem... if I leave the balancer in 'standard' 0.015V balance per cell mode, it comes up with the error message.

However, if I press the 'mode' button on the balancer to go to high precision 0.005V balance per cell it'll charge.

          Weird.

The instructions make no mention of this, so I assume the balancer is partly faulty, but at least I can charge batteries.
