Maybe this idea is silly but you would think some one would invent a solar panel canopy screen to fit in to the heli which would top up your battery all the time, then no more dead batterys. seems to be a big part of crashes other than pilot error....

Lateral thinking indeed. Mind, the small panels are getting better and better and cheaper...depends what their output is. Whose going to be the first?

the most stupid thing ive ever done is this. when i flew nitro i used to get in to the habit of landing it, killing the engine, the switching the tx off and walking over to the heli to recover it. i did this not long after i started flying my trex 600E. switched the tx off while holding the headand it proceeded to spool up in my hands. i very quickly pulled the deans connectors apart and all was ok, but suffice to say ive never done it again!
