  • Piro flips... any tips?

Whilst putting heli related lyrics to popular songs might be one of my strengths, doing piro flips is sadly not

I'm doing this in the sim, btw, don't want to risk real hardware just yet.

I have heard nose to the left works best. As for timing, I can see there's a timing issue involved in bringing the cyclic stirring in. I find I can do maybe 2 flips, but usually between flip1 and flip2 I either lose loads of height, or it comes in knife-edge to the ground.

Any tips on how I could use Phoenix to learn? Maybe slow the sim down? Any special heli setup with regards cyclic/collective movement?

Come on you 3D'ers - share your knowledge

    Cheers - Rob

unfortunately it's one of those things that takes a crap load of practice for you to learn the timing.

This will get you started, but I am no expert as I am learning myself.

Start inverted - givie it left rudder (so nose right) and when the tail comes round flip it, then stop the flip when it's the right way up.

Once you/ve nailed inverted pyros hen do it the other way but it is harder, I find it's easier to learn doing one flip at a time with a pyo in the middle.
