Mini protos quality is really great (really fun build as well) and it's quite inexpensive when it comes to parts. Full combo with YGE esc/scorpion motor and sab blades is imo very good value for the money. I was looking at Rave as well (I just got my protos 3 weeks ago) but parts prices were too high. Keep in mind protos is belt driven if that bothers you, but it's very efficient belt system with no gears between main gear and tail.
Mini protos can be stretched to run 350 blades and comes flybar/flybarless as a standard (you get both options in the kit).
      Trex 450, well, industry standard.

+1 for that, you would have a job getting anything better for the price.

Shameless plug but as others have said I've got a beam e4 for sale with enough spares to repair several crashes and it'll do anything you want including 3d

For a beater get a Rex, you can get cheap spares anywhere, newsagents, petrol stations, Tescos, Poundland, anywhere!
You can thrash it harder than a red headed step child, leave it rattling round the boot of your car, kick it about the pits and even if you pile it in full bore on it's nose it'll only cost about thirty quid to fix.

I was trying autos with mine in the gale force winds last week and even though it was coming in any which way but up it didn't even bend the flybar!!

Totally agree, I got talked into buying one of these for the princely sum of 37 squid and got to say I was very sceptical.

It pitched up, it was beautifully finished and flew like an absolute charm! Total convert - it's absolutely perfect for what the OP wants, a nicely flying light 3D beater.

Trex 450 pro maybe with belt drive conversion? Very strong frame and head, only thing which is a bit of a pain is the front TT gears if they go in a crash, other than that it's a very strong heli.
