  • 450 pro Vs 450 SE

Have had my 450 SE for a while now and its been a great heli Trouble is I've been pushing myself and getting into tail slides and stuff and hence crashing more often especially when the tail suddenly blows out on me (But that's another issue)
Had it out a couple of days ago and yep, the tail blew out really badly again, right in the middle of a forward travelling back flip followed by yet another encounter with terra firma

    So now to the point.
I've been hankering after a 450 pro for a while now and thought, seeing as how the SE is in need of having money spent on it again, should I just go get a Pro kit instead?

How different are the pro's flying characteristics against the SE? Are they really any better? or should I just stick with old faithful

Night and day mate using the same electronics. I set one up about a year ago, whacked the Pro electrics in it and it was just...........awful. The Pro is like a greased gazelle in comparison (as stock).

Greased gazelle I like that I have a trex 450 sport, I have flown my old mans se and the sport has a much more planted feel, more accurate and stable. I think the pro is slightly better still than the sport (i mean slightly) but the sport may be an option? I don't like the tail gears being so near the deck on the pro.
the wiring supposed to be a pig to sort out on the pro too

        Cheers m8
The plan is, should I decide to go with it, is to swap out the electrics from the SE into the pro, with maybe a better tail servo to begin with, and then upgrade the motor at a later date.
        What do ya think?

Hmmm yeah I know the TT gears are a source of trouble but Ill just have to be a bit more careful when landing

What's the problem with the pros wiring then?

The frames are difficult to navigate when routing the wiring, you have a bit more space with the sport

I guess this thread is a subject that has been seen before quite a bit so it hasn't had too many replies. I did a bit of searching on some
other forums and I gather that there are some geometry changes in the head between the pro and the SE V2 that make the pro
feel more 'locked in' and responsive. Apparently there is less slop in the head as well. I have yet to see a comparison between
the Pro and the Sport strictly based on how they fly. I know they both have a wider hub and longer feathering shaft than
the 450SE so a slightly larger rotor diameter and a bit more support for the feathering shaft since the dampers are placed
a bit further out so it cannot teeter as easily.

The SE V2 can do all the 3D manoeuvres when set-up with good electronics, IMO it just isn't as fast (cyclic and feeling) or well designed as the Trex 450 pro. The Pro has one if not the best 450 head, frame and tail drive around. The wider hub, single piece strong frames + great servo mounts and the Torque tube tail really works well together.

well my sport has never flown as good as my old 450 se but may be i have just been unlucky with the sport kit (i thought the quality was not as good either)

Funny, I really like my 450 Sport, just like my old SE V2. However, I only had my 450 pro for a couple of months before selling it. Don't know if I got a bad one, but I wasn't impressed, always felt out of trim, and was contantly puffing my lipos (even though they were a decent C rating).

It's a pain in the arse to install the electrics, and if you even touch the tail, you will be stripping it to replace the over priced torque drive gears.

I guess it's a personal thing, but my 450 Sport has been a great heli and extremly robust.
                    Cheers,
                    Simon

I have a Pro (Tarot Clone) and a couple of SE V2 (Clones) and the Pro flies much bigger - more stable and less twitchy, but still VERY agile (I can't do 3D, but do big loops, flips, rolls etc.). There are many areas that seem to be very nicely designed on teh Pro. I think that the head geometry is the same from the Pro to the Sport (they use the same feathering shafts and main shafts, as well as head links), however the tail and tail drive is obviously different.

IMHO the Pro is definitely a step on from the V2 - and V2 spares are starting to get harder to find !

I have had an SE V2 for a couple years and got it flying about as good as it's going to get. I recently got a Sport but have not wired it up yet and still deciding
whether to give FBL another go as the last time I tried flybarless on a 450 the results were not very successful.

I gravitated towards the belt driven tail but I suppose it is possible to change to the TT tail on the Sport so that's always a possibility. I love the way it
looks but will be curious to see if it flies any 'bigger' than the SE.

I know that a lot of people don't like clones ... but if you want a Pro with a belt driven tail, then Taort do a conversion kit for that

                          Cheers,
                          Mike.

                              What servos are you using?
