  • Daftest injury to yourself

Ok so as per the title what's the sorest thing that you've done to yourself for the daftest reason?

I was putting a George Foreman griddle, the one about a foot square, back into the cupboard on Thursday last week and I managed to do my back! I've apparently pinched a nerve and need to 'give it time' the quack says.....

Thing is I had the griddle in both hands and leant over slightly to place it on the shelf. its not like I was bending or twisting funny.

The agony and discomfort is stunning, cant sit stand or lie. It's getting better but as per it's worse of an evening. Can't wait until its better.

So I realise its not life threatening and others have genuine long term serious illnesses here that are not funny, but whats making me laugh at myself is the simple act of putting something on a shelf has caused me so much trouble. Anyone else got a similar tale?

Was building a trike a few years ago and managed to put my fingers in a metro fan that was still powered.... three badly cut fingers.... a while before whilst strightning out the frame on my trike after a minor prang (silightly twisted frame neck) i had a 5ft scaffold tube wedged in the fram brace above the engine and was swinging on it.... it slipped and smacked me on top of head... 6 stiches later and a really big headache....

Whilst having the obligatory free windsurfing lesson on hols in the Maldives a few years ago, I actually managed to sail the thing out to sea alongside the jetty (avoiding the seaplanes), turn around and sail back in, much to everyones amazement, including my own. (No-one else had managed it in the group!!). But what the teacher hadn't taught us to do, was how to get off the bloody thing, since most folks fell off, and then gave up !!

So I just dropped the sail , and decided to jump backwards, which went well until one of my feet (as I was lauching myself backwards), swung the board round, under me, and as I put my hand out into the water, it hit the board, and modified my little finger to 90 degrees. It hurt, but the German instructor told me not to worry, as he was sure it was like that before the lesson !!

Now I don't know if any one has ever tried to seek medical assistance whilst in the middle of the Indian Ocean, but X-Ray depts are few and far between. However, our island did have a decompression chamber in their surgery, so it was fine !!!!!

The rest of this story is just like the Benny Hill show..................

My dad wanted me and my brother to race scramblers and so from a very young age we raced, most weekends in fact up to when I was 15 but it was when I was 6 that i didn’t clear a jump properly and came down on the front wheel instead of the back and because we were just practising I wasn’t wearing a full face helmet. Smacked my face on the handlebar bolts and ripped two big holes in my eyebrows. Had around 20 stiches in my left side and about 15 the other. I didn’t have eyebrows until I was around 15 lol
Now i look like Dennis Healey

I was walking down the corridor to the bathroom when I was about 15 I think. I saw my dads slipper turn upside down in the doorway to the living room, decided to pick it up and add it to the other pair by the entrance to the bedroom. Knelt down to pick it up and smacked my head against the frame of the door that leads to the living room, big cut on the side of my right eye with blood gushing everywhere. Had around 6 stitches on the cut, I still for the life of me don't know what really happened. All I remember doing was knelt to pick up a slipper.
                Regards,
                Dave

I will lose all credibility after this (not much lost then lol)..........

I managed to superglue my hand to my face.

Ask my wife about it at the RCHA flyin.............she'll tell you all when she stops laughing.
