    Its p1ssing me off now... had a few hours at the field to get a few tanks through the Velo but again I am stuck with problems and didnt fly.. I don't know why but the engine now wants to run stupidly lean.. to the point that there's hardly any smoke, even at super rich at 2 1/4 turns out on both needles when I should be running leaner in todays weather! Also.. I think the bearings are f*cked in my Align super starter.. is there a way to replace them without buying the whole wand?

    I did notice one thing though.. when the engine cuts.. you can see the fuel get sucked back through the line to the engine? Is this a indication of anything?? Nothing has changed from its last outting apart from the pipe and I dont know how its had so much of an impact... I didnt have this much trouble with my first 3 needle carb when I knew nothing about them!

    I guess I will be spending more time sorting it out tonight .. any more problems and that b4stards going for a Align. lol!

      YS engine running dangerously lean is usually down to a £5 check valve being stuck. Either take it apart and clean it out just to check if it is the problem for one or two flights or get a new one is best idea.

          Yes Stu.. I've got a OS mate.. so Steve, theres no check valve, just a standard HZ but with the 61E carb

          I cant be bothered with it tonight.. i'll have a look another day..

                  Well.. I decided to see what was wrong with it in the end... just stripped it all apart and EVERYTHING is fine engine, lines, blah blah blah... so it had to be the new pipe I fitted.. I decided to blow through it to see if I was getting airflow through the pressure nipple and got nothing?.. stuck a hex driver down the nipple and I can feel it stop but it didnt feel right.. as in it didnt go deep enough? So decided to give the hex a gentle whack and it went in punching a hole through from what I can see through exhaust port, as unfinished threading on either the nipple or the suppossed hole for it.... So it was no backpressure that was starving the engine today.. as the blocked nipple was just creating a vacuum in the tank! It does explain what I said in the OP about the fuel being sucked back into the tank when the engine cut!.. Oh well, at least it sorted and I can try again in the next few days!

                      just wondering if you want to send me your velo 90 main gear stack so i can compare it to mine so we can finally get to the bottom of it for you if its still an issue
                      also congrats on fixing you engine probs for now

                        Steve, its the newer Outrage HR91... tbh.. i should have checked the nipple and hole properly before JB welding it in (and before you say it.. it was not the JB weld blocking the hole! lol!)
