  • Ok how did this happen ??

Ok just got back from flying and trying my new tail casing out and the tail was solid for about 5mins then it started to give me signs of high gain
So thinking it was the gyro tape i thought i would pack up and go home and change it over, but then i noticed this

Metal fatigue - caused by high frequency vibration.

I am not sure, as i have never seen one fittted, but are the two end mounts for the servo seperate from each other, if so it is possible that one has twisted, and caused the bracket to break. or possibly if they are not completely in line, one end is stressed?.

You need to either balance/dial your fan or try changing your headspeed slightly.

this isnt the first QUK servo mount i have seen this happen on.

the raptor boom is the same dia as the knight one. you could use the knight 3d/sport tail servo mount instead its much stronger and protects the servo much better in a crash.

I vote for Metal fatigue as well, but I'd be looking at the rear (of the heli) as well, spindle, hub and bearings, and even the blades (out of balance ?).

Have you been experiancing a tail vibration, maybe the vertical fin vibrating form side to side very fast ?

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

Well the tail casing is brand new so is the tail blades, i bought these all at the masters and it runs so smooth, i do balance my fans sometimes taking me ages but its something i do every time.

Its very strange but to be honest in my head i think i might have tightened the bolts that hold the servo down to much as its broken right at where a bolt is.

So iv now fitted another set to the boom and il try again, but she was very smooth in flight and no vibration at all till that broke

I have seen this sort of thing a number of times before. In my experience it is certainly metal fatigue, and in most of my cases caused by rough engine bearings which were the source of the high frequency vibrations.

                    Cheers,
                    Pete.

My setup with the Q Uk tail upgrade broke the servo arm.

I now have put back the metal rod and supports and just use the metal clamps. I think it was/is the un-supported carbon rod that is poor with this mod ! Got it down Ok pleased to say.
