Spektrum DX3c

Not heli related, but im guessing someone maybe into their cars too.

Nievely, I bought another Spektrum unit for the car. Unfortunately though, it has about the same range as the DX8!

I couldnt get it to go further than 100m, so got onto the phone to Modelsport where they said 100m was about the average distance for the system.

Are they pulling my leg, or is this a complete joke!

Just took it out now for a range test.

At full power driving away from me - 90 metres

At full power driving side opn - 99 metres

The HH techy mentioned that they are heavily dependant on their line of sight, and extending the antenna should work (either exactly double or tripple).

Stick a higher gain antenna on it, more directional but greater range which is not a problem with something that stays on the ground, search eBay for a 7dbi omni.

Cant comment on the newer 2.4 car stuff, but in my racing days, I would have been very happy to have had a range of 100m on 27meg!!

I had a FG Marder (1/6th scale with a Zenoa 230 in it) disappear over a huge field once when it ran out of range!! The solution is a throttle failsafe box that came from SM Services.

Tbh, my 27Mhz was spot on, and could easily go as far as I could see. As per usual though, I wanted some new shiny stuff

Let's be honest, after the dx8 farce, you really should have known better! 27 is the new 2.4

I had the same problem with my cars, it's designed for racing so long ranges ate not needed, I found this out after chasing my Mardar full chat across a field!! Lol!

Tempted in buying the FG Baja at the moment. If my 250se goes, then ill be collecting one tonight

I run a HPI Baja 5b on 2.4ghz with a Futaba 3pm and have never had any range issues and I am talking well over 100m.

I haven't tested the full range on it yet but it's been fine out to 60M or so.
