  • Align 3g & Spartan to try FBL??

I have a spare head for my 500, also have a ds760 on the tail at present,

Has anybody had any problem with the 3g on the cyclic servos?

The reason I ask is that if I get a 3g unit, then ultimately could try a flybarless set up for around 60quid ish, by using my 760 still, and then 3g unit on cyclics

Why not just leave it as it is and buy some more packs Kev. You will see no benefit in going fbl, but it is your money. The 3G can have the odd bobble on the elevator but you have to push it hard to see it and I can't imagine your into 3D yet, even so you have to know what your looking for to see it. I would use the tail gyro on the 3G unit. It's not that bad and will see you okay. I've said it before and probably will again but Ian Contessa runs the 3G on all of his models without external tail gyros and it's fine, and he can fly a bit. Interestingly Duncan has settled on the 3G albeit with an external tail gyro. But, he does need it.

I have 5 packs for my 500 which is enough at the moment, just fancied trying fbl to see what it was like, zipped cost me only the price of a 3g unit, and simple enough to change back if I don't like it

              Hey.

As Waveydavey has put in his post I am running the 3G on all my models including the tail gyro without problem. Being honest though I have had the odd tail kick, but then I have many more flights without any so it doesn't detract from the fun of flying FBL.
As to why the kicks I cannot fully explain, but will say that my 700e running a JR 8900g does not suffer with the kicks as my Align DS620 equipped 550e does so have a sneeky feeling its tail servo choice related.

If you do give the 3G a go I have a nicely tweeked settings file for writing to the 3G via the pc link I can send you and I'm always around to offer any help and advice on the 3G's as I've logged lots of flying time with them now.

I had 3G on my 500 then tried beastx don't like" so going back to 3G, my 600 & 700 are 3G with Spartan 760 & work perfectly well together so for sixty quid worth giving it a go.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

there really is no point in "trying" flybarless.
                      • Any half-hearted attempt is unlikely to end with "wow - this is so much better".
                      • If it flies badly, you're none the wiser since you know you didn't do a proper job to start with.

Also, the 500 is difficult to convert (AFAIK) due to its weird servo geometry.

Watch some video what other people are doing with "your" heli, and then think again - maybe it's still good enough
