Help!!! My Charger is on the blink!!!

I have an Align RCC6-CX lipo charger. It has worked fine since I bought it 6 months ago, but last night it stopped charging one cell! The other cells are charging fine. I tried with 2s, 3s and 6s lipos...the same s#*t! I don't want to chuck it as it cost 100 quid!

Are you connecting the packs direct to the charger, or is there an adapter between the pack and the charger?

Did you buy this new? If it is faulty you certainly don't need to 'chuck it' just go back to the retailer you bought it from.

I bought it new. I connect packs directly to it. There is an adapter for 2s,4s and 5s packs. Unfortunately i imported it from Infinity Hobby in Taiwan.

If it's the usual method of extension balance adapter boards then there's a good chance it;s just dirt and poor contact on the socket pins in the main unit...unplug, wipe/spray with electrical cleaner and work the connector in/out a few times and see if that sorts it. Otherwise it sounds like a break in the wiring ther internally..in which case you need a pilot on here into electronics and doing favours - or you open it up and get lucky :-)

I think this is going to be an internal problem as unless I've misunderstood the way this charger is being used, it has separate connectors for different pack sizes so the same pins are not being used for the different sized packs.

Shame it was purchased from outside the EU as it doesn't seem like it would have been much more expensive to have bought it in the UK and now it is going to be costly to ship it back to Taiwan, even assuming you can get them to provide warranty support.

It's a dual charger so I assume that only one of your banks is affected. Which output is faulty? If it is at either end then you could make an adapter to avoid the bad output for up to 5s. So long as you use output next to each other you should be ok. In other words if output 6 is faulty use 1 to 5 if output 6 then use 2 to 6. Outputs 2 or 5 gives you 4s, 3 to 6 or 1 to 4. Outputs 3 or 4 gives you 3S, 4 to 6 or 1 to 3. You can still charge one 6s pack on the working bank. I'm surprized it's still charging, as if it's a balance charger it shouldn't be.
