  • 50 / 600 Head Speed ???

    Hi All

What would be the equivalent head speed to a 90 sized heli running 2200 to 2300?

Thats pretty high for a 90, I run mine at 1950rpm..

    With a 50 @ 2150rpm.

    ...nitro though.

      Hi

Yes, it is high, but the way that I like it! :-)

So based on what you run the math works out to 2500 .... ?

That may explain why my fusion 50 sounds a bit vibey at 3400 ! lol - great performance though!

3,400? I'm surprised it doesn't explode at that head speed. Bet the performance is pretty serious though.

Just be very careful gareth, thats got to be in to blade breakup / feathering spindle failure / main shaft failure / tail hub/shaft failure territory! Personally I wouldn't run a 50 over 2300 absolute tops, preferably nearer 2150 tbh. You must be destroying the packs at that kind of speed, not to mention the esc

3400!!! i would implore you to reconsider what your doing there. that is extremely dangerous, i can't emphasise enough how dangerous that is.

to answer your question-1950-2000 on a 90 is plenty, you won't find a 90 geared to run much more than that without blowing up your motor on a regular basis. on a 50 nitro the power is about 2100-2150.

            cheers

mrw^2,mass x radius x rotation speed squared. At 2800 you have double the radial load that you have at 2000 rpm. Usually a .50 size is running under under 2200 rpm. I'd say doubling the load the head and blades are designed for is pushing it a bit. I'd avoid flyng it close!

                Hi

                They are both electric.

2300 on the Srimok is GREAT!

The reason I am asking about the fusion is that I maidened it and the head speed sounded crazy, so auto'd and tach'd without blades.....

run my 50s ay around 2150 and my 90 at 1960, i think it gets to s stage where no matter how fats the headspeed is it wont make much more difference, the blade can only giv so much lift, no matter how fast its spinning

Well, I've been trying for that magic 5000 RPM, where suddenly the heli does all the flying for you, I'm just having trouble getting there.

Stock everything and 12s. I have to run the esc at 65% to get flyable headspeed, s I guess that I will get an ever so slightly smaller pinion.

                            err, yea good idea.

Until then I will tell everyone to stand well back from you when flying or just make you go fly in the other field!!!!!!
