I want to start learning 3D moves on the simulator, I can do the basics like loops, rolls, tic tocs, etc...
But I want to move on the the more advance stuff. I've been watching videos on youtube, and flying with others online and watching them and I just can't figure out the stick movements. how do they do it?

Have a start with this post. Most of the answers there for you.
Sure others will follow up if nay different to those.

Phoenix SIM has training videos with stick movements.

      Just ring Midland helicopters.

They sell (I can be a 3D Master overnight)

Seriously the only way to learn is keep hammering the sim and keep watching the videos, it will come in time.

Hey there, 3D takes time (for most of us) and patience. Sim time is really useful. First off, make sure you are comfortable doing circuits in every orientation, forwards, backwards, inverted forwards, inverted backwards. Then I would say learning to pirouette in one spot is the next key, again both upright and inverted and make sure you can hover in the same spot and in full control. Once you have these down this will help you get out of trouble and not panic when the heli is in a strange orientation. I learnt rolls flips, loops and then went onto hurricanes and funnels and then the half piro. Can't do too much more than that to be honest but it's just a case of keep practicing.

If you haven't seen it, check out the Smacktalk "Learning 3D" videos, they really helped me out as they show stick inputs and explain the moves.

Flying with other 3D pilots helps a lot.

Unless you are one of the new "play station" generation ?
practice hovering in all orientations, Upright & invirted
Fly forwards and backwards "8'S" .
3D will come with practice ,
If you are a playstation kid you already do 3D

            lol

              Hi,

              >> on the simulator, I can do the basics like loops, rolls, tic tocs, etc...
you're heading into a dead end. 3D is not about blindly learning stick movements. This works only in the sim. Sorry.

              Here's a lead:
Try flying fast circles and keep them in place. This will seem impossible at first. At some point you'll realize it's even harder
Now we're talking 3D. This will turn into a hurricane, or if you fly it side-in, a funnel.

                  Sadly I am old school

I get scared and confused & thats just parking the car

The sim definatly helps me but two things have helped me more, Flying , preferably with others who are far better than me and the other ? music , I listen to music when I fly I don't try to fly to much to the tune but it helps me.

Playstations didn't help oh except the Wii fit and that helps with other things.

A lot of sim time is the key to learning to flying 3D quickly. Not a quick go every week or two, realistically you need to be on the sim everyday/every other day if you really want to progress quickly.

Careful though, if you learn too quickly you may forget how to fly forwards and upright

im on the sim everyday for at least a hour, unless ive been to the field. All the heli pilots there are "old school" pilots and will rearly do anything better than a stall turn, so it looks like im on my own in that sense. Ill have a look at the videos on Pheonix, see if theyll help. Thanks for the replys everyone.

As already said, learn your orientations. This isnt the first time this thread title has appeared on here, and im sure it wont be the last; so have a search.

Watch videos of people flying too, steal their moves

Dan take a look at heli tuning, they have some superb moves broken down in video format so that you can see what's going on and in slow motion. Commentary from Ashley Davis too.
