  • CNC spindle machining job? & Head dampers

My little Zoom 400 is grounded due to want of a 47mm long x 2.97mm dia (to fit 3mm bearing) with M2 threaded hole in each end feathering spindle. It's from a Blinktrading upgrade blue aluminium CNC 'Sonix' head.

The old spindle only got damaged drifting it out of the bearings... The reason it had to come out was one of the damper rubber o-rings (7mm OD x 3mm ID) had split.

I've tried numerous times to get to speak to a human at Blinktrading, via email and phone - have left answerphone messages, but nobody there has been interested in getting back to me. I guess they're happy to sell the 'upgrades' but when it comes to spares backup...

So - anybody out there with access to CNC turning gear to knock out a shaft from stainless? I can supply a drawing. Also, a source of the aforementioned rubber o-ring dampers?

    All reasonable costs reimbursed

If Blinktrading turn up to 3DM this weekend I'll bend their ear.

Moral of the story... upgrade parts are great, but not if you can't get spares for them

    Cheers - Rob.

There was another post a bit similar to this looking for a sonix feathering shaft for a trex450.

It could be the feathering shaft is the same as this:

Call rcmods.co.uk and see if it measures up.

It seems there is a shortage of some marks of sonix feathering spindle - they keep changing their parts and their are several different lengths. I have some trex blade grips so I can use trex v1 feathering spindles in my 450 sonix head.

That sounds like a good idea, moving over to the T-Rex grips.

Any good sources to get a 'kit' of the blade grips, shaft, feathering spindle and damper rubbers?

I could then hopefully just bolt-on-and-go

      Cheers - Rob
