  • James Moon [moonmanflyer] Building Service

I have just returned home from collecting my 500 size Sea King and my T-Rex 450 Pro, both built for me by James. The 450 Pro is just soooooooooooo quiet compared to my own build 450 V2. I can only thank James for his work, absolutely superb. I have another [1 of 3] to be built, but cannot make up my mind just yet about which next in what configuration. Discussed with James a couple of options and he is completely non phased about whichever choice I make - nice. So I can wholeheartedly recommend James's build service - great bloke, superb results and I just need to sort out "which way to jump next" and it's back to him for more of the same - or similar

    Maurice.

I'm sorry that there are no pics - yet - I was, honestly, just in the door from my visit, but I will try to sort something out tomorrow sometime, best had really, before I even attempt to take them up myself. Please have patience grasshopper and I'll see what I can do, but take my [OAP] word for it, they are "bootiful
      really bootiful". Regards.

Here, as promised, are a few [static only] pics of my 2 scale models, Sea King and Agusta 109.
The Sea King is unflown - by me - but the 109 has - and will again soonish [I hope] Just waiting on a small surgical procedure in a few weeks and, after "mending", I will be flying again -

                      Maurice,
I am new heliaddicts and am building my first scale heli, a 500 size Sea King. Did you build it yourself? if so can you tell me what work you done to the rear gearbox/elbow and tail drive please. I dont appear to be able to
1 Line up the gaerbox/elbow with the boom in term of height and canno0t get the belt to the required tension without the tail drive sitting to high for the screw in cover.
                      Thanks
                      Steve

                          Good Evening Seve,

Sorry on 2 counts. Moonmanflyer built it for me, together with the new 500 mechanics in there - and I am well aware that he had issues with the tail end geometry and "fixed" it. He was still not happy with the end result and I have yet to fly it. James did suggest that a ***very*** powerful servo may be the only answer. He fitted a 620 after test flying with the standard 520 in Pod and Boom configuration, but he was still a little less than happy with that. Ho Hum. Regards.

                          Maurice.

ps His build service is [temporarily I hope] suspended, but maybe the darker nights will tempt him back.

Hi Steve and MauriceAs maurice said, the tail was a knightmare, i spend probably 3/4 of the total build time on that alone, and was still not 100% happy with how the tail acted in flight, i basically had to cut down a boom shorter to allow me to then fit the elbow joint but that was still notanyway near, after much triming and fetling and fiddling i got it as straight as possible, but couldnot route the tail control wire in the gap left, so i had to re-route that as well, eventually got in all to work and was vibration free, that i do have to say i was really worried about, but the standard 520 was not up to the tighter tail mech through the snake, so recommended Maurice to fit a DS620 to allow for a stress free tail, and to run in rate mode only.I expect i will end up doing that as i said i would do the change over for free anyway......lolOn a different note, my build servoce will start again around mid oct, the reason i stopped was due to my lad getting a part in the sound of music and rehersals etc have taken up both mine and the wifes time so had to give it a break for a bit.If anyone needs any stuff booked in i will start to prepare a diary book in, with the average turn around being a week to 2 weeks, for any scale builds, as i found out to my costs never run smooth, and if i am honest, to take it hour on hour the cost for me to build one would be very very high.Hope this helps
                              James
