Yep, Pete, Google Calendar is looking like a pragmatic solution. In the absence of having the email addresses of everyone at the club, I guess I could print out a load of cards with a shortened URL and hand them out at the weekend. If I had a private flying site I would be in heaven..

Peolpe use a club forum to arrange slope outings. You could do the same on here. I've a free website with Joomla on it and that can have a forum added to it. The rest would be php stuff, lots of people know that. I can give you details of free hosting with full cpanel support although they don't have the free install scripts working at the moment. If you are still stuck later on in the year when the weather isn't suitable for flying I'll see what I can do. Might be one for Stuart or even your club webmaster.

I was just thinking, it's a shame that I'm thinking about this now, the other side of winter!
I'm actually a softy, so I suppose I should be all over this myself .. but all I can think of doing in my spare time is flying now! Maybe when the whether changes. And I grow a single artistic bone.
Thanks very much for your offer - a forum for our club would be great, but I don't want to step on any club committee shoes. I wonder if my other half is still interested in web site design, she's more into custom vinyl t-shirts at the moment.. May get back to you on the web site stuff, cheers!

thankfully we are not all like minded.nothing wrong with being a bit cautous .you should know the rules when you join a club .you only have to go on youtube to see how many flyers have been hit by there own models and thankfully theres been someone there to assist.Originally posted by mole hunter View PostHas the world gone mad? Does the person who made that rule up realise that you had to travel by road, to get to the field, on your own and could have been killed in an RTA? How many flyers are hit by their own models anyway? Maybe it's better to go to a local park or field, risk life and limb practicing, so that you won't ever have an accident.
Does this rule apply to holders of A or B certs as well?
PS - Message to the rule makers. Don't ever take a shower alone, you may slip and bang your head - againTrex 550e dfc :-)

Nice safe flying site, nice and easy to find someone to fly there with you.

You only have to go on YouTube to see how many don't get hit by their own models, I think you will find there are thousands more not getting hit than getting hit.Originally posted by brin View Postthankfully we are not all like minded.nothing wrong with being a bit cautous .you should know the rules when you join a club .you only have to go on youtube to see how many flyers have been hit by there own models and thankfully theres been someone there to assist.

Hehehehehehe ahhhhhh dear dear dear. I wish. I guess if I had an artic with a pool in the back, wide screen TV and a wimax internet connection she might go for it.Originally posted by cupracing View PostWhy don't you just take your other half with you, buy her a magazine or something. That way you will never be alone.

However, that's not the risk you're protecting against. The risk you are protecting against here is that you are injured such that you are incapacitated from calling for help.Originally posted by brin View Postthankfully we are not all like minded.nothing wrong with being a bit cautous .you should know the rules when you join a club .you only have to go on youtube to see how many flyers have been hit by there own models and thankfully theres been someone there to assist.
If you want to mitigate the result of injury, then requiring a qualified first aider to be onsite would be more useful.Neil H: Certified

One of the clubs I fly at has a similar rule, there must be two club members present for anyone to fly. In this case it is at least partly due to the field being a public space and the other reason is general safety.
I find that I always prefer not to be the only one at the field even if it isn't a rule.
We have a website for club members where someone can post on there saying something like "I'll be there at 1.00 today" and then any other
prospective flyers know that someone else is planning to go and they can then post as well at which point they now both know they'll be
able to fly.Kasama, Minicopter, Henseleit, JR, Shape, Beam

To put it into perspective, how about riding a bicycle alone. I mean, it's not like you're standing at 30 m distance. No, you're on board. It's almost suicidal, isn't it?
Surely my club has regulations that stop me from using my bike when no one is around to get help if needed.
Maybe in my part of the world, things are done differently. But for me, it seems outright bizarre.Woohoohoohoohoohoohoohoohoohoohoo -Barbra Streisand
