  • BMFA waste of time.

Recently I contacted the BMFA on what I thought was an important matter and got shrugged off a day later. I tried again with a 2nd email and got an answer back today relating to blade holders. Both emails were polite, concise and asking a reasonable question with regard to any possible safety concerns over recent DX8 failures.

Will try one more time then give up with them completely.

It seems the body that is supposed to support us, be there for advice and help is just not interested, so roll on Stuart, get the insurance and achievement scheme running or I'll just have to go out and buy a WOT4.

They're probably looking to stand politically right on their part, regarding the 'sensitive topic' issues mate.

Not sure they could say any more than that there are no current warnings about the DX8.

For there to be any other involvement they would have to get a number of direct first-hand reports of failures/accidents from members, then they would have something to work with.

They won't get any direct first hand reports unless they are open to the idea that there might be a problem they seem not to want to be involved at all. A good answer from them would have been a standard form - possibly something like an incident form that could be filed away.

You don't state what your questions were, but I would have thought a first port of call would be the Heli rep on the Technical Committee. Its highly unlikely that he would brush off any serious questions. The Technical Committees are there to look at technical issues, and there is a heli rep, nominated by the AHA. If you want to PM me with your e-mail address, I'll get Dave to contact you directly.

            Cheers,
            Pete

Well don't forget they did ban Futaba 6exa 2.4ghz tranny from the NaTs due to the grid 0 issue one year.

Of which only 6 UK sets found to have an issue and there was the ability to goto model shops and check your futaba 6 tranny out.

I'm sure the BMFA if they thought the risk of a Jet or any model could go in due to an issue they would Ban the DX8 no matter what. They technically have no choice, I'd dread to think what would happen if they knew of an issue and failed to act!

I don't know about first port of call, I've no idea who he is or how to contact him. Perhaps the bmfa should have replied with his details then ?

                  Hi Mark,

I've forwarded your e-mail on to the AHA Rep on the Technical Committee. Hopefully he'll be in touch shortly. If not, get back to me, and I'll rattle his cage!

if you had a problem lets say" tripping over a council path that was in a bad state of repair" if the council are not aware of it,liability is very hard to prove.
but if they had already been made aware of this fact, liability becomes" negligence".
so bmfa beware!. listen to your members.
remember if you send any reports to anybody, send always in writing, send recorded delivery and keep copies of all correspondance, cover your back for when it hits the fan!.
