  • What next? Rave or Trex??

    Hi all
I have some bits for sale in Fast Lads and intend on getting a 700 size electric when my stuff has sold. Question is what do I go for?

Rave ENV Electric or Trex 700 electric (Prob F3C version)

I saw a FBL trex flying today and was blown away by it, absolutely awesome, so at the minute am swayed towards that as spares are more readily available. Had a quick look for some Rave spares on FL and thought the prices seemed ok, but not sure if they're as widely available as Trex.
    Any thoughts??
Trex 500ESP - Scorpion motor, CC ice 75 esc. Spartan Quark gyro, Std Align servos
    Knight Sport - Spartan/BLS251, Hyper 50, 3050's on cyclic, 3D mixer arms
Outrage Fusion 50 - Viper 700kv, 14t, Align servos, Spartan, 8s, Hobbywing 100HV. Maidened - Love it, set up to fly really smooth :-)
Gootch 450SEv2 built and flown, very nice heli :-)
    MCPX BL
    MPX Twinstar (In bits!!)
    DX8/Futaba T9CP
    Phoenix

If i had to advise i would skip the pair of them and just get a logo 500se or 600se, cant see there is any better electric heli avalible on the market today, never thought i would say this as they are plastic fantastic but boy do they fly well.

If you want this for 3D then I'd skip the current Rave ENV and go for the new Rave Ballistic due shortly.

Not really bothered about mad 3d stuff, want a heli that is can be flown in a nice controlled manner, like FAI/F3C type of thing. I can't do 3d, and if the mood did take me to start to attempt it I have my 500 and Knight to throw around.

another vote for the logo. they are just unbelievable and so so smooth and quiet in the air. As you want something 90 size Logo 600se would be a great choice.

What about the standard Logo 600? is this a normal 600 size heli?

Is amazing but with the 550 one battery per flight
                  its full of meaty goodness

standard logo 600 has shorter boom and swings 600 blades as apposed to 690s, I was lucky to see both fly back to back and the standard logo 600 was more nimble due to running higher head speeds. I do prefer the standard 600 actually

I've got a nitro Rave and Trex 700, and to be honest for me the best one to fly is the Rave. Having said that I also enjoy flying the 700, but I think the Rave is starting to edge it for me.

One battery per flight is another selling point I suppose!!
Not sure whether to go for 550, 600 or 700 size!! Was really after a model which would be nice and stable, and good for F3c style stuff, I know the 550 is supposed to be mental for power, so may not be best suited to what I want, hence the 600 or 700 size helis being my main options

I do know the Rave is very good for F3C and I have seen Mark Christy flying one. One of the clubs I fly at has been invaded by Logos and they do seem to fly very well also and look quite classy (not a very informed opinion I know but the growing number of them seems to be some kind of confirmation).
