How long were you flying before you took your 'A'

Just as passing your 'A' test seems to be the topic of the moment with quite a few people doing it recently I thought I'd ask...

How long from when you started flying did you pass your 'A'?

Bout a year and a half here.

That was cos at first I was not bothered by it then we had a member join who is an instructor so he just took me for it one day

Bloody windy day aswell, could not keep the heli level but I passed

About a year and a half for me as well. But I had a very slow start when I began with helis and a few big gaps when I did very little flying, so ideally it wouldn't take near that long.

Many clubs iv been a member of didn't bother with certs so 17 years later i took my A, said if i didn't pass i would throw in the towel

About 2 years for me our club didnt do bmfa tests. Used to have to get jamiem & adelaw to stand with me a charmouth. then one windy charmouth sunday trev just said to me "lets do it" I fell to bits in panic but just managed a pass.

Took me a year too before I did my exam. Rang BMFA and told me to contact a examiner near me. I could not forget the day I passed because when I came home I saw all over the news that Michael Jackson passed away.
