cheapest 500 canopy?

I've got the 450 version version from GiantCod. It's a good canopy. I'd like to know how to paint it. I've gone up market since and bought the Giant Cod Trex Pro version. Looks a lot better. My clone does have some Trex parts, honest.

there are seveal site showing the basics of painting. Depends on what you want to do..airbrush for fine detail and fancy arts or spray bottle/rattle cans for larger areas.
Basics are to scrub and smooth the canopy, rinse thoroughly then finally wiping with tackcloths before appliaction. Basecoats need to be for plastics so they are flexible and don't crack off. If you mask an area then spray the under colour coat briefly to seal the masked edges . allow to dry then spray the next colour over. For classy work you smooth out any masked edges to avoid the ridges and use lots of very thin coats rather than doing any layer in one hit. Once the design is complete then it needs sealing.. with fuel proof stuff for ICs or less critical for electric helis.
Theres finish coat options.. 2-part stuff is the most durable. Professional sprayers also bake the coats on.

I have only used halfords rattle cans.. you can get a pretty good result but it's not cheap on a larger canopy with several colours when you add up costs of say 1 basecoat, 4 colours and a finish.. 6 cans at about £6 each plus masking tape (use the 3m blue stuff for neat edges) and fill in with masking sheets or stencils plus tack cloths, sanding stuff etc.. having sa that you could probbaly do 6 x 450 or more canopies with the contents of those cans.

Quite a lot of youtube vids on how to airbrush stuff like motorcycle helmets etc..all much the same process

..well you'ld either be buying a bunch or them for serious playtime or topping up with other clone spares goodies. If memory serves that place has a $9.95 fbl 450 head which i saw at the filed last week..wasn't bad looking either. They also do 450 pro skid sets under 50cents..which my flying pal bought 10 of and hasn't broken the first one yet in several crashes....as flexible as a poor mans gorilla gear :-)
I've just ordered a few bits... cheap booms and TT's for my pro clone and some more battery trays 'cos the slot for the canopy is a bit weak on mine. 450 tt's for $1.30 and canopies for $2.30 painted..or buy 10 for $22 and have plenty variety. Again to be fair I've seen some of this stuff and while obviously not highest quality it isn't tat..and crashing a $2 canopy hurst less than a £12 one :-)
