There is only a minimum weight on fixed wing power tests at the moment, this was to stop people using shockflier typw models.

Without starting a BMFA bashing, why the hell do some examiners accept FBL and some don't? Quite laughable really. Just as well I don't plan to compete anytime soon. Soap box put away for now. Lol.

It's not about competing for me- it's about being allowed to fly at Charmouth without someone having to hold my hand!

That's down to the club. There is no BMFA requirement to pass any test before flying on your own. It's down to the club. One club requires a BMFA A cert, but it can be any A cert for any discipline. All A certs have similar questions and all flying has much in common. Passing a test on an easy model may qualify you to fly a more advanced one, but most people would ask someone who flies that model to trim it out and help them until they feel confident. Otherwise we'll spend all our time taking A tests.

Yes I know how you feel ,..... I got mine because folk might not want to stand with me , lol

However on the flip side a "Spotter" is a good thing to have, even the likes of Curtis uses one, remember you can't look everywhere.

Oh if it comes to it I Will stand with you .

I think the virtuous work BMFA examiners do in this hobbie is fantastic, and would not question there personal veiws on FB or FBL, if there isnt a rule stating a minimum size or weight then maybe there needs to be one, before the whole thing becomes a joke.............

I agree. The logic being that for the test to have any meaning it has to be fairly indicative of the pilot's ability in general IMHO, and not just specific to one heli. Regarding examiners, a big hats off to them because it's a volunteer thing and yet can involve a fair amount of time and effort.

The Examiners are just that examiners , they need rules to follow .

As far as I am aware That rule is already in place , regarding fbl & fb ?

As for the "A" its about saftey not the size of your heli ? Who gives a Ra*s Bu* if you take it with a 450 or a huge bell 47G It's about proficency

Definatly a case of size dosen't matter .......

Oh before you bang on I do think the examiners do a wonderfull job.

I don't understand why you feel the test is in danger of becoming a joke ??????????????????
