  • Trex 600E - 1st Hover flight !

Following on from my thread of a couple of hours ago - re 'sparking' when connecting a 22.2 volt main battery, I plucked up courage and fully connected quickly and cleanly - all ok (no smoke!).

I throttled up and cleanly hovered around for a few minutes - all seemed ok - BUT

Standing behind the heli I notice that the tail assy is constantly VERTICALLY bobbing up and down approx 15 mm - this can't be right.

I further note that both the main rotor blade and the tail blade grips seem a bit tighter than I would expect (from experience on smaller helis)

Could this be the problem ?

I am only test flying the heli in very basic flying configuration as I am about to fit a Vario Ecureuil scale body. Wanted to make sure mechanics all ok before fitting the body (after which access is somewhat limited)

Vertical nod means not enough head speed, up your throttle curves a tad. Remember, most fly in IU1 at a flight line of anywhere between 85 & 100% throttle.
Can't say about the grips, as I don't have the 600E.

Thats fine for normal mode but in idle 1 use a flat throttle curve of say 80% to start and see how that goes and adjust to suit.

          The 'normal' throttle curve on my 500 is 0, 26.5, 53.5, 70, 81.5, 90.5, 100, but I don't know how this would translate to the 600e.
Just try upping points 25 to 27, 50 to 53 etc & have a look see.

Even in normal mode it is nice to have some consistent head speed I find- personally I do not like the continually variable throttle of a linear curve as I change pitch- a different way of trying it would be to try a throttle curve of 0, 50, 60, 65,70 in normal then adjust the figures up to find the right head speed- this curve gives a nice head speed at the point where you are trying to get off the ground and adds stability IMO.

My analogy is that it is like when you are running in a new engine on a nitro and you have that very rich period where the head speed is low initially and you get those lovely wobbles as you lift off- or is that jsut me
