  • Which next heli next?

Thanks to a new job, ill be getting a bit more money every month, because i live a home and dont have many bills to worry about i thought i would do when any sensible person would do. Im going to buy another nitro heli . ill learn with my SDX, but then have the other heli to use as a treat when i can fly safely and do some 3D. hopefully this will be the kick up the arse i need to get flying properly. But what one should i get? Ive narrowed my choice down to the following.

ElyQ vision 50 - Really like the look of this heli but dont know much else about it.
Synergy N5 - Seen one of these flying, and it flies excellently (i know its also down to the engine and pilot aswell)
Trex 700 - again ive seen one of these fly and it looks like a beast in the air.
TT Titan X50 - just fancy a TT lol

wouldn't mind a Aurora, but these cost just too much

    what would you recommend?
    Trex 600N DFC
    Logo 600SE
    Goblin 700

Velocity 50 or a 90 if you can stretch to it, both great heli's parts are easy to get, straight forward build and looks and fly's great,

What would you be happy shelling out for in a crash mate, I think thats how you need to look at things.

N5 parts are a bit expensive and so are the 700 (700 being a .90)
Personally id consider the Trex 600 with a 50 hyper or atleast a trexy since in a lot of cases you get double of a lot of the parts and usually some bargains can be had here.
Unless you got a big wallet I wouldnt see the .90, cost wise, the ideal machine to learn on since the fear of flying it and crashing will significantly reduce your learning curve, admittedly I havent got anything to back this up with apart from it being my opinion.

Give it a year, like I did, when youve gone past the part of hovering and can fly very basic maneuvers or even basic fly knowing you have full confidence in your ability. Then treat your self .

Im not p*ssing on your bonfire dood but read carefully from people here who have the T-shirt. By no means am I saying I have because I havent but itl save you money in the long run .

I love my 700- easy to work on and set up, straigthforward build with no mods needed, some good deals on FL at the moment for the Combo flybarred one, parts easy to source, a tried and tested model, but not very individual. You need a big field to fly the 700 though. It also felt like a big step from the 500 to the 700. IMO Trex 600s just don't look right.

I think I may need an N5 for my next Heli whenever that may be.

Velocity 50 is a sweet machine(have a airframe for sale), much better flying then a 600
The 700 dose have that big feel in the air but dose like the jungle juice and the crash repairs just in blades alone !
Or just Fly your sdx and have a ding or two ??

I wouldnt be buying it for about 3 months. Hopefully by then ill be able to fly a little better and i wouldnt buy every thin at once, it would be gradually. airframe one month, engine the next etc... this will help spread costs out like i said, this heli would only be used flown once in a while as a treat

I have recently bought a velocity 50 as my first nitro. I spent a lot of time thinking about which heli to get etc and decided the velo would be the best option for me so I am obviously going to recommend it. However I will state some of the reasons for my choice. Before that though I will say the Trex600 does appear to be a good choice. I have not personally owned one but they are often recommended and regarded as being reliable machines. On top of this you can get RTF or BNF examples for £350 - 400 and all the other align benefits i.e. cheap prices and good parts availability

here is an example Rex 600 I saw in the FS section the other day RTF for £350 ...bargain !

                        http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/sale/5...x-600-pro.html

However I still went for the Velocity and the reasons being

I just wanted something other than align (I have a 450 V2 and its great but....well I just wanted something different)
Spares prices are similar and in some cases better than the Trex equivalent
                        It looks very cool
Regarded by many as an excellent flying model which flies straighter than the Rex (have not flown mine yet though)
There are some very nice design features (e.g. snap off tabs on the canopy mounts to help save the frame in a crash) and a generally more refined design (imo the Rex models are a very functional but a bit agricultural in design).

oh yea and it looks cool :P

You got small helis to learn with so treat yourself to a 90. Gotta have 90's in your life lol.

Trust me, having a 90 early I think will help. Did me as it gave me more confidence to try more with my smaller helis as they felt, well small which gave me more confidence and the 90 was just for plodding about at first

But I would recommend a trex 700 as I flew this with not to much fear but when I got an aurora early on I did not fly it for fear of crashing so sold it early on

But what would I get if I personally were to get a nitro?

Defo not a srimok as I not as keen on the n, 700? no, velocity 90? Really like the look of it. Think it would be the Aurora now as there nothing that really tickles my fancy in the N scene right now as the prices are a lot better now than what they were

I have a 600LE & love it but if i was doing it again it would be a Velocity 50 all the way, absolutely stunning machine & flys like its on rails. If i was going 90 size the Velocity 90 would be the one or a 700. The Aurora for me is awesome but still a lot of money that I feel would hinder my flying because i would know that when i put it in (trust me i would) it would be a fair bit more expensive to repair.
