      Assuming the fuel you put through it contains nitromethane, then that is your most likely cause. One of the by-products of nitro combustion is nitric acid. Unless you run the engine hot and pull the fuel pipe off, there is likely to be enough left in the motor to ruin anything made of steel. Run a decent engine as above, then lubricate it with light machine oil, which will prevent any castor from solidifying, but mostly will give all parts a light coating to keep the atmosphere away from the steel.
      You need to remove all traces of rust before you run it, one speck will ruin the bore or bearings. Try toothpaste and toothbrush. Takes a while, but I've done it before and rescued an engine.

        i have put the crank shaft in my bullet tumbler for cleaning rifle cases. Should do the trick. i have put teh crank case in the oven and gotten the old bearing out so shuld jsut be matter or waiting for the parts ive ordered.
