There does seem to be a common message developing.
My trusty old Raptor is now 11 years old and never missed a beat. My Trex is only just over 1 year old and so far had two expensive failures, none of which are my doing.
Are Align products all they are made out to be?

Sounds more like the reg to me ... Wiggle the switch on the unit and see if the lights drop for n e reason .. I had it the other week so bypassed the switch and soldered it to permanent on .. No lights drop now at all

I've already bypassed the switch. Had this problem last year and did the same fix as yourself.

reminds me of the phrase "jack of all trades, master of none".

After resoldering the +ve lead which was the problem for me, hot gluing any potential joints which may be susceptable to fatigue, including the EC3 connector on mine, touch wood i've had no reappearence of this.

Things are going to change with the next rebuild. Can't take the chance on it going again.
Probably a drift away from the Align reg as recommended here will be the best option.

The AR9000 does have a component issue, it was quite a time ago though so if yours is new, then I would guess the capacitor is already glued.

I bought mine in 2009, so it should already have the bonded capacitor.

I dont use switches at all, this comes from my rccar days when oil, gunk, or even a knock would trigger them off, now i just push fit all the connections, be it deams ec2's or whatever but no switches, your less likely for a deams to seperate in flight than the off switch, plus it just an extra length of cable to manage.
