  • Trex 600 3g driftng problem

    HI ALL
STILL CANT SEEM TO SORT MY 600 FLYBARLESS OUT IT STILL KEEPS DRIFTING BACKWARDS AND TO THE LEFT AND IT PULLS TO THE LEFT IN FULL CLIMB OUTS, TRYED TRIMMING IT OUT ON HANDSET BUT IT JUST DRIFTS THE OTHER WAY AND ALSO ON THE POTS FROM SAY 10 OCLOCK TO 12 OCLOCK
IVE BUILT IT BUY THE BOOK THE SWASH HAS BEEN LEVELED WITH A SWASH LEVERLER TOOL AND IS SPOT ON TOP MIDDLE AND BOTTOM
THE 3G UNIT HAS HAD THE MOD DONE TO IT AND AM USING 2 FOAM PADS AND A PLATE
I HAVE PUT A LARGER BATTERY ON THE HELI WHICH HAS MADE IT NOSE HEAVY WHICH I CANT UNDER STAND WHY IT WANTS TO DIP THE TAIL AND DRIFT BACKWARDS
IM USING DS610s ON THE HEAD AND A 0S55 WHICH HAS NOW HAD ABOUT 7 TANKS THROUGH IT SO RUNNING PRETTY GOOD
    ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT
    THANKS LOOPKING

    Hey.

It does still sound like a bench setup problem to me, the out of trim in the hover is fixable with the trim but full power climb out isn't, or in the usual way as altering the servo ATV's. The latter ATV trimming cannot be used with the 3G atleast.

Your servo arms are they as close to 90 degrees to the servos as can be? I'm wondering if they are out a little and causing the swash to rise and fall unequally, hence the drift in the climb.

Vibration can be a cause of drift, but as you say you're using two pads this should be minimized. Their not too soft the pads?

Is look at the initial setting of the model, go back into DIR mode and check the servo arms at mid stick for alignment. Then observe the full and low collective stick positions of the swash to see if it is staying level or deviating.

The servo horns are 90 degrees and the swash is bang on level with all sub trims on 0 its also bang on level at top and bottom pitch, all done with a proper swash leverling tool

Make sure all your trims are centred in all flight modes, go through the 3g setup 1 more time, it takes minutes if not seconds (before you do that make sure you have defaulted pitch curves etc, no expo/dual rates - you can put them back after you do the setup), do a rebind (after putting your tx settings back) and finally make sure your engine isnt running bad or really rich/lean.

                  Hey.

Just an idea, but you mention you've a swashplate levelling tool, you haven't used the channel ATV's to level the swash top and bottom (high/low pitch) have you?

Just came across your thread and thought I'd give my 2p worth.

I have a couple of 3G units neither are on what you would call normal heli's, I have one on an N9 which is well known for it's viabration issues and will confirm for sure that vibes can cause the problem's you have. The other is on a 250 which is well known for its tail issues but the 3G seems to work quite well on both.
I would suggest that first of all you try increasing your head speed by changing the throttle curve as this may well help diagnose the problem, just add 5% or remove 5%, it wont take much to see if that is the problem. I do have a friend that swears by velcroing his 3G gyro down really hard because it improves the "drifting" that he has experienced.
It's going to be trial and error but keep us posted.
