  • Mystery E-bay Heli

    Hey guys,
Just joined this site a couple of days ago and have really enjoyed reading all the posts and looking at the videos.

Got a question, if no-one minds. What's this thing? Is it a T-rex clone?

    Thanks,
    Daniel

Yeah...looks like one, different mainframe but canopy, skids even tail rotor blades look identical....

Don't waste your money, nothing will compare to a real Align T-Rex.

A lot of the parts look very similar to a Trex, well everything apart from the frame!!!

Can't vouch for the model but can for the seller, I bought a glider from this lot and got fantastic service and an excellent model.
      Clones are bad

      .... that includes Align ones

        I'd beware of that package.
Some of the hlei looks reasonable , but the frame looks a bit flimbsy.
There are many trex clones out that and most look better then this one.

Steer away dfrom that radio as it may not be a type approved one. That would mean they would turn you away from a bmfa club, and it would technically be illegal to use it in the UK.

There are better, but not necessarily any cheaper, deals available!

Its looks very similar to a 3DX450 SE... which is a clone of the trex 450 SE. I owned a 3DX and i was very surprised how well it flew. The diffrence with this one is the airframe seems to be metal and the 3DX i owned was G10. What they seem to do is change the shape/style/material of the airframe and rename them as diffrent models and then there sold by various diffrent suppliers. All other parts on them look exactly the same. The head and tail parts are very similar quality to parts made by Sonix for the T-Rex 450. I can tell you now that the motor/ESC/lipo/servos/RX/TX are of poor quality and i couldnt even get mine to run on the 3DX. I ended up kitting the whole heli out with Align gear which in turn made it fly very nicely. I can also vouch for the seller as ive had stuff from him before. Ideally i would stay away from it and buy a proper Align heli if you want hassle free.
          Hope any of that helps.

The package deal includes some dodgy bits you won't want to use. So I'd agree that you should steer clear.. As for an option, I would look closely at a Mini Titan from Thunder tiger.. They fly great!

Hey guys, thanks for the quick responses.
              0h5h1t,
Just for my own education, which bits are the dodgy ones, and what makes them dodgy (flight characteristics-wise).

Also, moyesboy mentioned that the tx might not be type approved. Would that be the frequency band that it's on or the tx itself?

The Tx itself won't have a CE approval for one and it's probably not on 35mhz which is the legal freq in the UK for airbourne stuff
