  • Spot The Puffy Cell!

Only a starter pack that got a bit worse this morning

I have now removed the cell to make it 5S, and pretty impressed that the Cellpro has recognised this even though im still using the 6s balance plug.

Where, its not that obvious is it?

I got a 6s batt that dropped a cell somehow and is now only a 5s.

I did not think about it but my charger and batt checker see it too as a 5s pack.

Makes sense that cell 1 is always cell 1, and each aditional cell on a socket just is added to the bank of inputs at the end, otherwise you'd end up with at least 5 separate balance circuits, which would waste money, PCB area, and increase the size of balancers/chargers.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

How do you guys just "remove" a cell from the pack ? Is it quite literally or is there some open heart surgery that needs to be done? Are there any implications to be concerned about if this is done at home?

If you aren't sure what you are doing, it's best to get someone in the know to do it and get them to teach you as they are doing it.

It is fairly simple but Lipo's can be touchy little s*ds, especially damaged cells.

Just wondering/wanted to know the theoretical approach to 'slicing' a cell off - if it done that way!?

ive got a few flightmax 2200 20c batteries that have started to puff and was thinking of removing the bad cells and reconnecting a good cell from other bad pack. ive got good knowledge of electronics and would also like to hear how other people have done it before attempting it myself, i just dont want the battery to go puff in my face lol

Can somebody throw some light on how this is done please, from a theoretical perspective of course? Removing a cell from a pack...

Its a shame I have covered the top of the lipo already, otherwise I would have took a pic.

Unsolder one cell, then bridge the existing connection
