I have one of these in my mini-T, the jumpers are just for changing between channel 5 & 9 if I rember rightly with possibly something to do with the failsafe being on or off, can't quite remember. Anyway I just used it as is, no need to change the channel and I haven't experienced a single glitch since using.

If your model/RX has a fail safe you need to check if it is on or off and if it is on that it operates properly, it should put throttle down to nothing in an event of the signal being lost. The last thing you want is an out of control heli with the blades spinning at full whack.

The jumpers are for programming the fail safe.
default is throttle closed and hold I think - but check that.
There is a sequence of applying the jumpers and switching on with the tx sticks as you want them in fail safe - read the instructions.

I think I've always just bought the crystal from robotbirds when I bought my receivers from there (I have a few hyperion/similar receivers).
A couple needed micro-crystals, so they came from there, but I think the fullsize one I also happened to order with a crystal, seeing as I knew it needed one...

If they say you can use a Futaba crystal, then you can. They know their stuff

                  Cheers,

note that it should be a single conversion chrytal for the hyperion.
I have tested my Hyperion DSP6 with hitec, futaba and the robotbirsa xtals and it performs the same antenna down range with all three.
a sweeping generalisation that may not be true in every case is that single conversion reciver xtals are likely probably maybe to be the same for most manufacturers
however dual conversion are more likely to be different and transmitter xtals are definitely likely to be different.
safest thing is to use the manufacturers xtal in both tx and rx even when the tx and rx are different manufacturers.

I remember when they used to kid us that tx and rx were matched pairs - ie you couldn't have two models on 27mhz green you had to swap the tx xtal to fly your different models to keep matched pairs. That turned out to be less than half truth!
