I have the 9C super and love it, the only thing that i dont like about futaba is the price of there RX if wanting a pcm one, now if you own a jr radio then you can get a pcm rx for £30 so thats one point i like about jr.
But apart from that i like futaba better

Never used JR so I can't say which is better.

But I can say I love my 9chp and now it has the xtremelink system it's perfect...for me

Easy to program, feels nice to hold, and simply works. Love it!

I'm very happy with my JR 9X2, plenty of features and easy to use. Prices have come down lately with the DX7 coming out. I've also got the extreme link module (2.4Ghz) installed but havn't tested it yet...

Both are good with each having ups and downs, I'd get whatever is common at your local club. People are often less helpful when you have different equipment than them.

I have ran the Futaba FF9 for 5.5 years and it's just started showing signs of wear this month.

Trev makes a good point, particularly if you are looking for someone to buddy box, you need the same make of systems. Although JR does work with Spektrum as well as other JR stuff

I have the futaba ff9 and its great !! fantastic bit of kit i have had it for about 5 years and i would not change it for anything programming is really really easy, only thing is futaba rx's are bit expensive but appart from that cant fault it if you but the futaba you will not regret it + i belive it does more that the JR and also you can assign switched much better on the futaba as its pretty much limitless

Are these modules legal yet ????

2.4GHz- Advice on the use of after-market plug-in modules.

The BMFA has sought advice from Ofcom, regarding the use of after-market plug-in modules, their statement is as follows.

“Ofcom have advised that replacement modules need to be individually compliant and correctly CE marked.

Additionally, the manufacturer or person who first places the module on the market in the EU, is responsible for ensuring the compliance of the overall unit (transmitter plus module).

If you are considering using such a module, you should ensure the manufacturer of the module certifies that when the module is fitted, the complete transmitter unit is compliant with current regulations”.

Only if you receive such confirmation can you be certain that the equipment will be legal to use.

Also with JR someone at my other club could not get hes jr 9x2 to work on a Buddie lead with the jr 9x, he could only get throttle to work and nothing else.

I still think it was them but they would not admit it

What radio do you already have ? Do you have many Rx,s with it ?
If your starting out from new then id go spektrum dx7,
If you already have some gear but not much then id also go spektrum,
But if you have quite a few rx,s for the tx you already have then stick with that make why change,

Ive had 2 futaba ff9,s before and thought they were great but the rx,s are a rippoff compared to jr,
I swapped over to the dx7 and dont regret it at all, My next purchase will be a dx9 or 9 channel jr 2.4g as its the same as spektrum

Tx and Rx modules are CE marked and literature states various settings that apply (eg. power o/p level) during initial setup. As far as i am concerned this is legal to use in the UK.

JR 9x II here, I find them to be a little smoother where the sticks are concerned than Futaba plus I think the futaba radios just dont feel made the same. Just My opinion of course.

Ok first of all CE marks mean nothing when it comes to legal matters a CE mark can be self certified by the manufacturer of the product and any one within the production can give the CE mark the CE mark just means the manufacturer feels this item is fit for use and they belive it is safe, Also if any one is unsure that there unit is not legal then let me know and i will find out (I am a electronic engineer that works for the worlds lagest independent Test house and yes i give the CE mark out along with about 30 other marks but the CE mark is the least meaningfull mark there is out there)

JR 9II is my choice, the feel in my hands of the JR was superior to the FF9, which I was going to buy, try them both in your hands and make sure you are comfortable with the one you choose, as I said, I was going for the Futuba, but changed my mind in the shop.
