If I were to invest in a GV1 for my new heli, how many spare channels do I need on my receiver? Is one enough, or do I need two?

What about the other common governors/limiters like RevMax and Revlock?

I've never tried one of these devices before.

How many extra channels do I need for each of them?

    Hi mate

Well i can't talk for GV-1's, but i'm expecting the same really as the Rev-Max...
Governers/Limiters plug directly into your throttle channel on RX, then the throttle servo into Govenor/Limiter. I also have my Rev-Max pluged into another Aux channel on my RX (Chanbel 7), giving me remote calibration etc...

I'm sure you can pretty much expect the same from other makes and models.

    Hope this helps!

Sounds good to me. All of my many receivers are JR 7 channel PCM, except one which is 9 or 10 channel PPM. I much prefer to use the PCM ones.

So long as I don't need a new receiver to run a limiter/governor, then I'm a happy bunny!

      Thanks.

        Sorry

Reading that back after posting didn't quite sound clear enough... note to self: must proof read!!

So you don't need any extra channels unless you want or need remote calibration. As i said above this is certainly the case for Rev-Max.

        Cheers

Channel 7 is always unused in my helis, so no probs installing a governor...... unless of course they need two extra channels - don't see ehy though.

You should be all good! And stick to the PCM's...don't give up Failsafe for a few extra channels on PPM.

You may want to do some swapping around with the TX assignable switches though...i had a problem with my FF7 (so went out and bought an FF9..hey ho !!!) where AUX 7 could only be assigned to one 2 way switch, which wasn't ideal...i wanted it on a VR Dial or 3-way switch at least. You'll get the jist of what i mean when you open the instructions!

Good luck setting the bugger up !!!

No worries. I'm sure my JR 9xii can handle it.

My club-mate rekons the RevMax is better than the RevLock and the GV1, and he's tried all three. He now has RevMaxs in all his helis.

The GV1 uses 2 channels (but you don't have to use either of them). The first is for remote speed setting/selection and the other for switching the unit on/off.

                      Hi Manager

I've got a RevLock 10. No experience with other governors, but I'm very happy with its performance to date. I fly it on my Rappy with a 7 channel JR RX and a GY401 on the tail. I've put the gyro gain on my gear channel, as its easier on my 378 to change the mode using the gear switch. The Revlock has a 'gain' channel which one can use to set the headspeed in flight, and I've connected that to my 'gyro' channel, CH7, as this allows me to change have different head-speeds in different flight modes.

                      Andrew
I've got a perfect flying record - I've not left one up there yet!
