  • Coloured fuel tubing

Am I the only one who has had early wear from the variety of coloured fuel tubing.
Just changed the (regular blue) plumbing over on both heli's & realised I've got various metre lengths of coloured tubing, but also remembered why I never ended up using it.

By early wear, I mean first flight in on the Avant & the pressure tubing at the exhaust nipple split. It did this on two occasions.

Tubing bought from FL so reputable dealer. Just wondering if the pigmentation makes it a bit weak as a fuel line?

I'd like to get funky, but am not confident with the coloured fuel tubing at all.

Same here, I dont buy it anymore as it just looks crap after 2 flights.

    Back to the clear stuff...

I use the clear blue stuff, I've seen the coloured tubing discolour after a few months which doesn't look good.

I think the dye definately has an effect it makes the tubing harder I think which inturn causes it to split quicker.

you'll notice the exhaust pressure line discolouring first as the exhaust gasses attack it more so than the fuel. clunk lines as well, I always fill my tank once ive flown to push the gasses out of the tank, then if I dont fly again I empty it before I leave the field.
              All the best
              Tony.

It's not about the cost of the tubing. It's when it leans the engine out due to the split, this buggers the engine as it's now running to lean & may force an auto landing/crash....

So the £1 crap tubing may end up costing an engine or heli, or both.

Mine didn't last a month. It didn't even last one flight
