  • DX8 stick tension.

Is there a way to reduce the tension on the springs for the DX8? I love the Tx but the spring rate is quite fierce and I am struggling to get on with it. I don't mean the tension but the left/right movements of say the rudder for example.

I hear that throwing it across the field works...

On the back of the case there are 2 rubber plugs. Pull these out and there are 2 screws underneath... thats what you want for the spring tension I am sure. Remove the 2 rubber grips from the back and you will find the plugs

If you can keep your head, when all others around are losing theirs - you have probably not understood the seriousness of the situation!!

Be careful you don't screw them out too far.

I was doing the same when the aileron screw came completly out.

Had to take the back off (not a problem) to retreive it and screw it back in.

Dan. The stick tensions are a tad keener than the DX7 but I like them that way personally.

PS: Always turn the power off when tinkering with the stick tensions for that very reason.

What, read the manual?!?! Have you gone completely mad?

Figured it out. To get access to the springs you need to get inside the tx. Something I'm not keen on doing and it's a bit of a faff with the DX8 thanks to all that grip rubber stuff. Anyway, the plugs at teh back only allow access to the tension and not the springs. Now it's just as the DX7 was, better in fact. Feels lovely!

              Thanks all!

There is the usual silver tension bar for the collective Nick, With the DX8 you have the choice of the ribbed spring with the notchy feel or the smooth version which I use.

In order to adjust these you have to remove the back off the TX.

I noticed all this because I obviously had to change these to change to Mode 1 when I bought mine.

This radio is real good value for money IMO, Far better than the more expensive DSX9 IMO.

In fact, there are two things you can adjust. The silver strips add tension to the vertical sticks, while the springs adjust tension to the horizontal sticks.

You dont have to take the back off, theres a small square rubber gromet for throttle tension access...i think the only thing you can do with the back off is mode change and stick limit ajustment

                      Or get your screws back...Tim

Sorry to be such a newbie but what does the tension adjust exactly? I have a dx8 and I find the cyclic a bit too abrupt in it's stop at centre when you go through it. It's almost as if it king of latches in the centre. Is it this th gets adjusted or jus how stiff the stick is to move overall?

But I wanted to change the tension of the rudder direction and the elev/ail stick too. For that you need the back off to get to the screws for the springs.

But theres holes under the rubbers on the back to get your screw driver in,Dan.And next to the hole is a small arrow showing which hole is for which spring tension....im 100% sure you dont have to take the back off to adjust the spring tensions, only for mode changes and to change throttle type to either a notchy type or smooth

Not that it matters, your sorted now...great bit of kit hey?

Now I seeeeeee. Well, I took the back off and there is lots of wires and complicated looking stuff in there. Still works though! Lol. Yeah, now I have the stick and spring tension how I like it, this thing rocks. I am so much more confident on the sim at least, doing low level smack. Just hope that equates to some half decent real flying. Lol.
