for stability between the pad layers, is usually frame, pads, plate, pads, gyro
    Nik.

    Before you ask:

    About 2 miles
    Over £500
    Very difficult
    Over 80mph
NO, you can't have a go

metal pad is usualy used on large nitro helis with high vibe's , on a small electric u would usually use jut a single 3mm pad , and as i say a larger heli where vibe's are more of an issue u may find that the metal plate is needed to kil the vibes before they get to the gyro i think

Your 500 should be fine, I personally have never gone with the above route, I just use double sided sticky pads about 3mm thick and just have that, never had any problems and my blade has been like this for 2 years and never had a problem on that either.

The metal plate does two things - it adds mass and inertia to the vibration damping pad which soaks more vibes than just a pad on its own, but can also soften the performance of the gyro by allowing it to sway more on the mounting during rapid acceleration and deceleration.

It also acts as shield for the gyro against electromagnetic radiation from high powered servos - particularly useful when a gyro is stuck on or very close to the side of a cyclic servo in the frames. Anything more than an inch away or so and the effect is negligible even without the plate.
