  • Srimok / 90 sized servos

    Hi All

I have a servo conundrum and need some help!

I am sick and tired of my BLS253's failing on my Srimok Cyber E. It happened AGAIN today. So I am going to buy some 'super' servos, but need some pointers...

I am running a Kontronik 120HV so BEC Voltage is 6v Max, but I am happy to add an external BEC to run HV. I have already done this on my logo600se and the results are awesome (outrage HV servos).

Now, down to spec, which do I buy?

The BLS253's seemed to do the job (except for high rate of failure). Their spec is as follows:

Speed: 0.10s and torque of 10.5 Kg/cm @ 6v (I was running these at the stock Kontronik BEC voltage which I think is 5.6v). Asides from the failures, they did not centre too well. i.e. put a swash level on and move the cyclic up, no gaps throughout the entire stroke, bring the swash down and gaps start to appear, or hold at mid stick, no gaps, push down one side of swash and let go, and gaps appear - not great, and that was from new!

    JR8717HV (expensive!!!!)
    Speed: 0.06 torque: 16.5 kg/cm WOW!!!!

    JR8917HV (a LOT cheaper)
    Speed: 0.06 torque 15.8 kg/cm

    Outrage BL9080HV (affordable)
Speed:0.06 torque 8.1 kg/cm (I have these in my logo 600se and they are great!)

Outrage BL9180HV (expensive, but not as expensive as the JR8717's)
    Speed 0.11 torque 16.3 kg/cm

The outrage servos I can run at 8.4v which I will do, and then they are even fast / stronger than the above spec (all at 7.4v).

So what is best on the Srimok? slower speed and more torque, or the other way around?

I am trying to learn Aeliron tic tocs, so this is probably really stressing the servos ???

    HELP!!!!!!

    Gareth

FYI the outrage 9080 servos are not suitable for 90 size helis-outrage have stipulated this since day 1-with the specs of them i would agree with them.

if you do decide to use the outrage servos then make sure you buy the new 17kg variant which was designed for 90 use (9180).

    cheers

It has to be the BL9180 as the older set werent meant for 90 size.

Id go with the 9180s personally.

      EDIT:doh. Too slow!

just to clarify that one if i may as there are a few things to be aware of. they are different internally spec/component wise. MKS also do not offer HV/BLS servos and lastly outrage servos are helical gears to reduce slop.

          cheers

What horns do the outrage use? JR or Futaba or their own?

I've had BLS451's in my N9 for almost 2 years now, never had a problem with them. Fast, accurate, don't break the bank, and most of all, reliable.
